I could be in for this. I'm eager to show off the Matrix (not really), but I just realized I have a box of doo-dads for the bed utility track that I don't want.

Glad to hear it worked out! I would look into getting your hands on a sewer camera, or seeing if a local company can run theirs to see what is actually causing the issue. We charge in the neighborhood of $400 to camera a line, but it also comes with locating where the issue as ABOVE ground, so it can be corrected

Hey you all. I've lurked on this thread for a while, but haven't chimed in before. I'm down in Blacksburg and I posted the question below in Roanoke thread. However that thread doesn't get much traffic and I know a few of you are located down this way.

Does anyone have suggestions for shops that will do lifts/suspension work in the Roanoke-Blacksburg area? I'm going to swap out my shocks with Bilstein 5100s and add a leaves to my leaf packs.

I'm debating on whether to most of the work myself or to farm it all out to a shop. Either way I'm going to need someone to pre-load the coils since I plan to use the OEM ones and don't have the tools to do that.

    Thanks!

I'm in blacksburg, and I could help out if you decide to do yourself and need a hand. Haven't done leaves before because I have a 4runner, but I have done the front and preloaded the springs using the suspension itself.

I appreciate the offer! We'll see what happens. I just ordered the parts.

I have a fair bit experience doing suspension work in the past, but I haven't done it in about 10 years. I also lack a garage, so I've had to do work on my truck at a friend's place. He helps but is not mechanical inclined.

You can do it on any flat solid ground. If Ryan’s close and available, he would be a gift and be able to walk you through it easily.

Hello NOVA friends. Dealership told me last week that one of my rear struts is bent and needs replaced so I'm going to take the opportunity to finally do a lift/leveling kit. 80k miles on the truck.
Looking for recommendations for where to get a lift installed on my 2017 TRD sport. Leaning towards the OME kit with full dakkar leaf pack.

I live in the Springfield/Alexandria area, not too far from the Priority Toyota along 95. They said they could do it, but I'm sure they'd charge me an arm and a leg. That said I'm looking for quality and trustworthiness more than the cheapest place in town.

Appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.

I hear you on this! Might as well get something better if you gotta replace it anyway. My nephew is in burke and real close. He did the work on my lift and supercharger and is real meticulous. Would not charge you anywhere near others because he's an offroader and loves this stuff. Anyway, I can reach out to him and see on his availability if you're interested.

I’m a little further west than you are but I might be able to give you a hand if you do it yourself. I’ve got a 2021 TRD Off-road and I installed the TRD OEM 2” lift in my garage last year. There’s a couple threads on here that demo how to install the kit using the factory springs and nothing but a floor Jack. It was easier and less stressful than the older method I was taught using a spring compressor. The best advice I can give you is be prepared to take your time and plan on getting an alignment immediately afterwards. Make sure you give the alignment shop a heads up that you did a lift recently or they might be confused. The dealership tech came out to get me because he thought I’d hit something since my alignment was so off when I took it in. I explained I’d just installed the lift and it made sense to him.

I'm trying to see if there's such thing as a transformer that can be hard-wired and I'm not finding much. We have a regular one on our back patio and I hate it. I hate the fact that the photocell is separate, and I hate the fact that these things have to be plugged into an outlet. It just looks like crap and a lot of these things look like they're straight out of the 19th century. I've found one that eliminates the photo cell and old-look, but it plugs into an outlet. I guess what I'm trying to say is I want a clean install, not something nailed to the siding and plugged into the outlet.

I would think you could hard wire one in to a junction box as long as you watch you voltage. Another route to consider is looking for commercial outdoor light controls. Those would be hardwired by code requirements for commercial properties. You could run photo cell or timer. A little busy to look right now, but maybe Grainger? I'll be looking into this a bit more as summer approaches as I want to run the deck lights on solar power.

    Rear strut? o_O

Do you mean your rear shock is bent, or the welded brackets that hold the shocks are bent? If your shock is actually bent then holy Toledo how did that happen? I have stockers from a 2022 OR inbound within the next month (HHG shipment) and can cut you a deal (free) if you want to just stay “stock”. Slightly different from sport shocks, but…

Let me know, and good luck.

@BTHawk is right. If a dealership told you that, then I would not trust them. Your tacoma doesn't have a rear strut, only a shock absorber. And they rarely bend unless someone hit you in the wheel significantly or you hit something significantly hard with your rear wheel.
