    Today’s task was a 65K mile oil change and wash. Although not shown in the picture, I discovered the infamous white paint peel has started. Interestingly enough it’s not in the super common spot on the doors. So far it’s peeling on a few spots around the edge of the hood. Was hoping I might be spared from peeling, but evidently not. Hopefully it doesn’t get bad elsewhere super quick.

    Side note- I know everyone has their preference of oil brands, but I have really taken to the Havoline Lifelong found at Walmart. It’s packaged in a plastic bag in a cardboard box…easy to recycle. And it comes in a 6qt capacity, which works out great for the Tacomas. Not bad on pricing either.

    It was made in Mexico. I’m gonna keep a close eye on the whole truck to see if it starts showing anywhere else, but for now I hope it stays isolated to where it’s at. Time will tell

    Unfortunately Toyota doesn’t cover Super White on Tacomas like they do on practically every other vehicle. If they ever do a recall, dealers better look out because there will be a bunch of white peeling Tacomas headed for them!

    You may want to check this thread out if you haven’t already. For the 3rd gens it seems to be trending mainly the 2016 and 17’s and a few 18’s out of the Mexico plants.

    There have been a few late model 2nd gens having this issue but seems more rare. If your 07 hasn’t show any signs of failure by now I think you’ll be fine.

    106,000 miles in. Has a few kinks, door locks randomly unlock and lock, key fob won’t work on them, neither will turning the key at times. Trans fluid seal has gone out 2x. just some average stuff I guess. Over all it’s been a dang good truck and i plan on keeping her for a long time
