Rockauto sent me the wrong steering rack!

    I ordered a new steering rack for my truck, 2005 TRD OR, that I keep in Mexico. I sent it down with a friend and had another friend take my truck to the mechanic a month later. Mechanic told me it was the wrong rack and I'd have to bring another one down. I flew down two months later with the correct rack and brought the other one home. I contacted Rockauto and they told me they wouldn't take the return because it had been more than 3 months since I purchased the part, even though THEY shipped me the wrong part. To make things even worse, I have no idea what vehicle this rack fits. I sent Rockauto some pictures and asked them to tell me so that I could sell this one and try to recover a bit of my money. They refused to help, closed my file and my emails bounce back now. Beware of Rockauto is the first lesson I've learned and strongly advise others to be careful. I wish that I'd read the online reviews before ordering from them.

    I'm wondering if anybody can shed some light on this, I've searched online from all of the marking on the rack and can't find anything that gives me any intel. I'm assuming it's a Toyota product, maybe a Gen1 Tacoma?

    Might be that X Runner rack someone ordered incorrectly and keeps making its way around the globe. 90 days? Ya, you bought it

    If you order a part from a company and they send you the wrong part, but all the paperwork shows the correct part #, I would say that's a human error issue on Rockauto's part. I'm not taking issue with that part of the transaction, mistakes get made when picking orders. I'm taking issue with them not trying to tell me wtf they sent me so that I can recover some cash. My extenuating circumstances are not the issue, I get it that I blew past the return timeline. Identifying the part is my issue, I'd rather someone get some use out of this vs throwing it in the trash.

    That looks like a rack for a right hand drive vehicle. The way the lines run in relation to the pinion angle. Just a thought.

    I know, it's crazy. There are stamped #'s and hand engraved ones. It's a rebuilt rack so I'm guessing the guys that rebuilt it put their own part # on it? It's all very frustrating. I'm pretty sure the only thing I've learned here is to avoid Rockauto. I'm tossing the rack in the trash at this point.
