I have a 2022 lunar rock Toyota Tacoma with 2100 miles on it. I bought the truck new and had it barged to a very remote island in the aleutians last year. I had parked the truck on the street for no more than 5 minutes, when an F350 parked on a a driveway with an incline slid on ice into my truck. Both vehicles were unoccipied.

Headlight is destroyed and the bumper is ruined. I'm pretty bummed.. it was the nicest truck on the island. My insurance company will more than likely total the truck since there are no services on the island and barging it round trip would cost around $30,000 and take a year for it to return (barge only comes once annually). Unsure how this process will be handled because I believe it to be the fault of the other vehicle owner for failing to ensure their vehicle was securely parked.

    Here is the damage:

Most aftermarket steel bumpers don't go up to the headlight. The trim piece below it is pretty damaged, so I'm hoping you guys could recommend a nice heavy duty bumper that I could slap on and get the truck looking decent again.

Going to call the dealer tomorrow AM and get a price on the headlight and replacement factory bumper. But as flimsy as this thing is I'd rather go with a steel one and have it painted to match.

I would get one that gets close to the light and buy a part or push that sucker out the ones that go all the way up to me do not look as good.

not sure how your insurance would work but I could see them sending you a part not totally it. would be even cheaper to fly somewhere there and fix it but that is def a first.

Are you planning on waiting for the Barge to show up for the bumper or what is the plan there? There are a ton of options available.

I really like this color so bummer to see it happen so quick.

These can fill the top part where they usually leave the the stock portion of the bumper. doesn't look like they offer them color matched anymore so may have to get them shipped to a friend first to be painted and then sent to you.

Or you may be able to just pour some real hot water on it and push it out.

As for bumpers the world is your oyster. ARB, Demello, Relentless, BAMF, RCI just to name a few.

good call on the R4T. I second you could prob push it out with some bit of TLC. Demello, Relentless and BAMF solid. Also C4 makes a solid one as well. the Hybrids on C4 and BAMF are my favorites. Relentless and Demello are solid too. I am biased with the BAMF.

Insurance will not just say here is the part, install it yourself. I clarified what would happen before insuring the truck just for this specific situation. Originally I wasn't going to insure it at all but they convinced me otherwise. State Farm will calculate the transporation costs of the vehicle to the nearest repair facility (1500 ocean miles away) into the cost of repair for the vehicle.

They'll probably just have you send them some pictures and cut you a check. This may be a blessing in disguise if you were already thinking about getting a new bumper at some point. Changing out the headlight is fairly easy to do yourself and slapping on a new bumper shouldn't be too hard either. Sounds like the hardest part will be to get parts to the island in the first place.

Edit: Also his insurance should be paying for this (assuming he has insurance) as his car slid into yours. So have him file the claim and you'll basically be getting free bumper money.
