    Just like every other non 3rd thread here. 3rd gen has become a dumping ground in Tacoma World. Said it. Probably will get a timeout for as much.
    3rd generation is where the audience is.

    I tried to lemon law my Ram but it was just past the time frame when you’re able to make a claim. Worst vehicle I’ve ever owned and I bought it brand new and took meticulous care of it.

    Toyota wants to keep that market share. At $40K+ for a Tacoma, the Silverado is a close enough competitor.

    My Ranger started failing almost immediately after the 3/36k warranty expired. Blend door issues, and unknown electrical issue that kept killing the battery (even after replacement) and the worst of all, and leaking head gasket. Got rid of it at 36,200 and bought a tacoma. My toyotas never had issues, and I took better care of that Ford than anything else I've owned (until now).

    They come equipped with rancho shocks. Lol. I knew from the moment I saw em on that it was the same old pile of shit truck gussied up with some shocks that were garbage in the 90’s. Boomers love them.

    Is this all it takes to impress now? The ability to shoehorn giant rubber to the detriment of your poor suffering drivetrain?

    Damn, I guess I'm buying trucks for the wrong reasons then.

    Exactly! It does seem that a lot of guys here just happen to know other guys who just happen to own every make and model of truck out there. And also just by coincidence, all of them have problems with their trucks. And also just by coincidence, all the guys they know who drive Toyotas have never had an issue since day one; their trucks are PERFECT.
    Seems legit...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:x1,000.

    I was a Chevy guy for years mostly because of familiarity. I have had a few shitty ones along the way too. Now they don't make a vehicle that I want. Sure the new Colorados look nice and the Trail Bosses are pretty rugged looking too. The issue is in my opinion is all the domestic makes have too much technology that isn't properly designed and implemented. Cylinder deactivation? Really? That seems like a great idea! Until you need a camshaft and lifters outside of warranty. A 10 speed transmission? Awesome!! Maybe if it wasn't commanded to be in top gear anytime you're going faster than 10mph and shifting constantly. Engine auto stop at every stop sign? Sweet! Maybe if the trucks weren't so big and heavy they could realize good fuel economy and not have to deal with all of this BS. I think Toyota should be given a hand for sticking with a reliable format and not falling for the latest fad.

    Speak for yourself Zoomer, I've had a Toyota truck in the driveway continuously since 1986.

    How old is the average 3rd gen owner? From all the insecure posts dinging on other makes you'd think we have a bunch of high schoolers here.

    My Silverado and Colorado and my dads GMC all get better mileage than my Tacoma. 10 speeds are pretty sweet, no gear hunting and at highway speeds you’re not turning 2,600 rpm.

    My Tacoma isn't perfect. in fact, I could make a short list of flaws, mileage and power being the worst of them. BUT...it works and it works well and it works reliably.

    I had many Dodge trucks in a row and should have "lemon-lawed" the last one. Traded it for a new F250 diesel that was by far the worst vehicle I've ever owned and i did in fact, lemon law that POS. No more, enough!

    Happy to have the power of a 4-cylinder with the mileage of a V8 in a reliable Tacoma. :cheers:
