Diamond kote. Not sure if you guys have it in the states. Our dealers do not apply undercoating, they contract it out.

Don't use anything that can trap moisture between the coating and the metal.

Fluid film, wool wax, cosmoline, or krown are all well regarded and work well. FF and WW are nice because they creep and cover everything, they also can wash off over extended periods and capture dirt. The dirt isn't an issue and neither is the washing, although it is a good idea to touch it up.

Rubberized coatings have their place, like the bed, on the plastic, so crap doesn't slide around. On the frame they make it worse not better

I think rubberized coatings get such a bad rep because so many dealers/folks use it improperly by trying to cover up rusty undercarriages/frames. I’ve seen it many, many times.

If a surface is prepped properly on a brand new truck and a person knows what he/she is doing, it works great IMHO.

I highly doubt the actual dealer will be doing the undercoating. I may be very wrong though.

If the truck is brand new and it's the newer type of thin coating I would absolutely have it done. But I'd do it myself and cavity wax everything too.

I've seen a few around here, whom do
I'm commercial general contractor. Remodeled a few dealships. Saw stock rooms, with cases of spray bombs and a few 30 gal drums of the stuff, I just chuckled... Walked shaking my head.

Yeah… I wouldn’t trust these guys. It will be the same 16 year old who keeps on screwing up oil changes.:)

The cool thing about the modern vulcanized rubber coatings is that it’s an active coating, such as fluid film, cosmolime etc.

Also I don’t see how water can get trapped under a thin layer of coating. By looking at my frame, no way you can tell that it’s been coated, it just looks flat black vs stock shiny black.

I don't see any distributors here in the US. Do you know of anyone using their electronic rust inhibitors?

No I do not. Never met anyone who uses one. I honestly think those things don’t work at all.

Rubberized coating are ok, if they are Trojan brand. Don’t fall for the ultra thin though. They say it provides protection but it eventually breaks if you abuse it.

This is the video that most folks on here go by. The problem is though, you can see it’s been applied numerous times over rust and it’s super thick tar like garbage.

Exactly what I was talking about.

Now this is an interesting statement. Do you know of any links to info in this type of coating?

This is what I know of as vulcanization, and it's definitely not active afterwards. And the complete opposite infact of cosmoline or fluid film.

So you think the dealership will refund my money if I decide to not undercoat?

If they haven't done anything yet they should. If I have my manual in front I would look through it to see if, toyota would void warranty if applied. I know Dodge was that way at on time, same with Ford, it was in fine print. Any 2nd or 3rd party rust proofing void 10yr/100mile rust warranty.

This is all I have for now. I’ll try to find better links.

    https://www.diamondkote.com/warranties/auto/rust-corrosion/#plan-features

Also, I was told by 2 dudes that apply vulcanized rubber coatings, that’s it’s an active coating and is rust preventative by design. One guy is a Toyota fan and coated his 4R. Said the stuff is great.
