What does a dual stick transfer case do? Is it for lower gearing in 4wd? Probably a stupid question, but have never seen one. My big 4 wheel adventures are only on the sand at the beach, haha.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Double low. You're tcase gives you around 2.5:1 ratio in low range.

    This will give me
    Back transfer case low 2.5:1
    Front transfer case low 4.7:1
Front and back transfer case low 12:1

Ok I had a feeling that it might go in there too but wasn’t sure. I’ll have to trim some of the mesh to make it fit.

This came out great, I want to do this for my duals as well. Did you bend that tube yourself?

Yep, with a Harbor Freight pipe kinker. lol

It kinked a LITTLE bit, that's why I saddled those gussets inside the bends.

Finally!! Pushed it out to the yard and cranked her up for the first time since starting this project last summer. It did not burn up in flames. Did a coolant flush and bled the brakes again and took it for a spin around the block. It runs so nice and the new clutch and heavy flywheel were a huge improvement over the old worn out slippery clutch. Shifts like a dream with the short shift kit. I just need to throw the bed on and take it in for an alignment and torque down the rear suspension when everything settles into place. The exhaust sounds really nice too. Gonna upload a video. OEM muffler but aftermarket headers, intake, cat delete and cleaning 1/4 inch of tar buildup out of the intake means she can breathe! Sounds awesome for a 4 cylinder without turning it into a ricer. LCE refurbed my injectors too. But one as shot so they threw in a new replacement with the deal. That would explain that intermittent misfire. Not a problem now. Gosh it feels good to be almost done with this and get to driving it again.

For anyone not tracking, this project started as a DIY half-frame replacement

Damn, that thing will be a beast! I can’t imagine the torque it has in 4Lo now. Looks like you’ve done great work on the skids too.

In double low, you have 2.57:1 o_O

Somethings not right because that's what you have in low already :D

The question was asked: "What does a dual stick transfer case do? Is it for lower gearing in 4wd?"

    The answer was "Double low"

The elaboration was HIS transfer case gives HIM "around 2.5:1 ratio in low range"

    The further explanation was:
    "This will give me
    Back transfer case low 2.5:1
    Front transfer case low 4.7:1
Front and back transfer case low 12:1"

Anyone got a good source for a driver's side, rear, fender flair for a 2000 Tacoma? Those are the fiberglass ones.

My bad, I'm new to all this stuff. I thought dual/twin stick allow low 2wd gear engagement without being in 4wd.

I’m guessing that it’s not to relieve positive pressure in the top end. The fact that it comes from (vs. goes to) the TB makes me think it might be there to compensate for a sudden increase in pressure in the TB like if you were WFO and suddenly took your foot of the gas. I’m curious enough that I’ll stick a compound gauge on it this weekend and see.

Cleaning this nasty cab! Was a farm truck a lot of its life. It was horrible under the seat. Also spraying undercoat on the floors because it doesn’t have carpet anymore.
