My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw a (insert non-Tacoma truck here) break down, overheat, leak oil all over, and catch fire at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Flannel shirts wrapped around a No Fear tee, Girbaud jeans and Doc Martens. Listening to the Toadies while debating the latest from the Trial of the Century. That was in between getting prank "187" pages on my green Motorola that I won off of a mountain dew bottlecap, and scouring all the 7-11s to find one that still had a can of Jolt on the shelf. I still remember what Blockbuster smelled like. Warm vinyl, simple green, and popcorn.

    That's how old.

    Own a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 5.3L with 260k+ miles. Original engine + trans.

Other work vehicle is a 2009 Silverado, similar mileage

both beat to a pulp, loaded more than max weight almost daily.

The older Chevy trucks were better for sure . The cylinder deactivation was a bad thing along time ago and still is now .I think if that was gone on the newer Chevy stuff they would be much better . As for the other parts of there trucks they don’t age well , but if you take care of them they can last . They will just cost you more to keep . Most vehicles can last long , it’s just at what cost? Toyota tends to last longer without major stuff going wrong. They also seem to have better lasting materials throughout. I have a 2005 Corolla with 230 k miles on it. ( Beater car ) and besides running great the inside has no rips or tears anywhere. It’s very plain looking but extremely functional. If that had been a GM product it likely would have been a mess .

So true. If you have ever had the displeasure of working on these turds for a living, “runs on luck” is really accurate. Their engineers are on crack

It's crazy how I work for a company that drives an entire fleet of Chevy trucks, and somehow everyone gets to work every day. Based on these threads, I'm surprised I haven't been stranded at least a dozen times in the past 4 years.

I have one of those too, less power and even worse mileage than my 3rd Gen. Just put it back on the road after a year and a half of not driving it, much prefer the 3rd over it, can’t wait to see what they do with the 4th.

Used to be nostalgic for the old stuff, after jumping back in my 1st Gen, meh over it.

I don't get it. Are UPS workers the ultimate judge of truck quality or something?

The OP was speaking of the popularity of the Trail Boss. I’m giving evidence of that popularity.

I've had a rough week. First I said I liked the Subaru Crosstrek in another thread and then I take my bro-in-law mid size pickup shopping. He went with Colorado over Tacoma. I'm in sales, too.....the failure is real

That statement about the Trail Boss is just as valid as the ones that guys post saying something to the effect of "There are 12 trucks in my work parking lot. 9 of them are Tacomas."

I would take the new design Colorado over anything built by Subaru.
