    Safe drive to TX!
Annoyed for sure, would love to keep mine off the road but I can’t. It’s the family vehicle for us and now getting real miles on it everyday since we moved into the country and I’m commuting more. Had 71k in July, now has 83k. It’s been mostly just a family hauler. We got rid of our Rv and now it will see some occasional towing problems a handful of times during the year. Got another toy that stays in the garage during winter though. Hopefully I can start riding the motorcycle more come spring.

Love that My 2017 is still on the frame program. However, I don't see it deteriorating enough within the 15 years to actually get a place. Then again, because of where I work I might be able to leverage that down the line. We'll see how the new Taco does and what prices are.

I do like the 3rd gens too. Unfortunately I need a full size next. Hopefully no new frame is needed. Think since I work at washing mine well it’s going to hold up without issues and be normal in terms of wear.

You need to put that in a car thread where more can appreciate it.

Probably has to do with the c-channel frames. A properly welded up box frame will only rust on the outside. A c-channel gets it from both sides.

That F-250 is a C-channel; none of it is boxed. YJ is a box with factory transportation tie down holes that allow crap in but no provision for drainage. No issues with it, either.

Welp my theory is out the window. Probably comes down to the EPA and not being able to acid wash frames as much as they used to. Prep before coating is crucial.

    There's also no paint/coating. Bare 45-year-old steel

Isn't rust like nature's protective coating?

A properly welded up box frame will still rust because it is steel and it has nowhere to let the water drain. Ask me about why I don't drive my 95 Pathfinder anymore...
