Been contemplating it. Thinking a pop up camper of some sort is in my future.

I’m thinking about getting rid of my V2 GFC for a hard shell topper again…

Coincidentally, I'm considering getting a GFC V2 to replace your old shell. Found that while the headroom and insulation is nice, having to take everything out in order to sleep two adults and a dog doesn't give me any real advantage over the old Softopper (aside from security).

HAH! Yeah the gfc is nice but paying 10 grand to just sleep in a tent isn’t sitting with me right. I am gonna look for a cab over tradesmen/bel air next I think. More room and hard walls, and cheaper than a gfc

Yeah, I'm more likely going to go back to the Softopper (with a Decked for secure storage and a pop-up ground tent with cots) or locking tonneau/Yakima rack/80" wedge RTT set flush with the cab. I like the idea of the GFC because of how light it is compared to similar products, but being even taller isn't super ideal for my situation, and, as you noted, it does seem like it needs to be used more like an RTT than a camper due to the 8-foot length.

If anybody in the SF Bay Area is looking for a black 23" contractor shell with insulation and lights for a 6-foot bed 1st or 2nd gen, hit me up and I'll make you a deal.

I have @tacomarin old topper on my truck now! Working well even though I had to modify the tailgate a bit to get it to seal better.

Since Trademan is out of business. Anyone find another company that is similar? Have been looking to no avail.

Thanks, sorry should have been more specific. Any company that does custom with a cab over?

Callen Camper had a new owner, website hasn’t been updated since 2019. There is Bel-Air too, however don’t want wood.

Looking for something like this tradesman. One of my dirt bike buds has an 8’ version on his Tundra, love his setup, can get 3 bikes in there.

Found some pictures of the 8’. Most likely getting either a Tundra or a F-Series, this is what I would like to do.

Long time forum reader, first time actually making an account and posting! I just picked up this tradesman topper two days ago off fb marketplace. Im excited to start the build process, its just an empty shell right now. Its insulated (looks like from the previous owner) and carpeted on the cabover part. Solar panel and vent on top. Looks like this build type is harder to come by, but does anyone have any advice for a first time tradesman owner? The truck rides fairly well, it does wobble a bit, so I'm thinking of doing an add-a-leaf or something like that for the added weight on it.
