Any recommendations on an aftermarket blower motor?

The one I purchased from CarParts.com did not fit since the fan was too big to spin once inside of the housing.

Honestly I would buy a used Toyota one from someone on here. I have the Four Seasons one from AutoZone in my truck and I hate how weirdly loud it is. Sure it's $60, but it's also kinda a POS. @Tour991 do you have a blower motor for our friend here?

I do have one out of the 99. I still need to power the truck up to see how it works.

If you do have one that works and doesn't sound like it's on its way out that would be awesome. Mine still functions but has gotten noisy as of late.

I replaced mine with a TYC two year ago. It was louder than OEM initiately but has quieted down considerably.

have you cleaned it? those motors get dirt/leaves/bugs in there. you can clean it and put some white lithium grease

i'd imagine the process for first gen is similar to 2nd gen

Just what is wrong with yours?

Is it the squirrel cage or the motor?

The plastic gets brittle with age.

My motor was starting to make noise about 10 years ago I pulled it out took it apart cleaned and lubed going strong 10 years later.

I would buy Tour991 blower motor if it works may as well install a new resistor as well. Good for another 10 years.

I am guessing the cage, it spins fine but is just noisy. I've only owned the truck about 3-4 weeks so I am not sure how it sounded before.

I got 1 from Napa and the plug did not match the factory wiring harness.
I ended up buying a blower motor from the dealer.
It was a few years ago. I think I paid $130 for it. Hopefully it last another 20 years.

I'd actually really like to know what you did you lube it. I've pulled mine before to clean it, but I couldn't figure out to get the cage off. Whatever I did made it sound worse, and I have just delt with it. But older and wiser me would like to continue to correct the things I messed up as a teenager.

It has been 10 years or so I can`t recall having trouble removing the cage .

I did what needed done I would need to look at the motor again

It took the motor apart and even though the bearings are sealed I am pretty sure I got some Kroil with silicone in them.

Sprayed the squirrel cage with silicone spray after blowing all the interesting collection of dirt out of the enclosure

Put a new resistor in so far so good.

I think I have a new motor not sure just which one it is I have a few.

See post #51 in my build thread. I pulled it out, removed the bottom access panel and hit it with some WD-40 and it sounds so much better and pretty easy to do. Been going strong for about 10 months now. If I were to do it again I'd likely use WD-40 silicon spray, but I just used what I had on hand.

Gotcha. I tried to remove the cage. It had a c clip or something like that on it. Didn't want to come off easily. I put it back together and it was never the same.. I guess I'll give this a try this weekend.

Yep, I attempted the same and couldn't get it off without likely damaging it either. I found accessing it from the back as shown in the post worked well enough though. If you've bent the shaft or have play in the bearings oiling it won't help and it will need to be replaced. I'd certainly go OEM if so, a little more expensive but better than getting an aftermarket one that doesn't work properly or is annoyingly loud and then having to buy OEM anyway.

I just replace my fan with an OEM fan and OEM resistor and OEM blower switch.
The fan switch was going out and the switch terminals were burning up actually melting the plastic switch possibly from the fan going bad.
Fan bearing was humming loudly so I replaced everything.

now it’s all back together and normal with all OEM parts and no funny fan noises,

This is the 2nd time in 20 years I've
replaced these 3 parts all at the same time and both the motor and switch were going bad at the same time.
