MR2 dyno day Monday. Fingers crossed it makes 310. But we’ll see. The e153 is one hell of a power sap for a manual since it has an oil pump.

I found these guys advertising on Marketplace. They're local. I'm not in the market for a replacement engine and haven't done any research on what's available (apart from the occasional thread that pops up here on TW), but the claim of a "brand new" 3RZ caught my interest. Does Toyota still sell short blocks?

You can get entirely Chinese made short and long blocks. They are reusing thrown away blocks and putting brand new Chinese parts in them including cylinder heads. In the case of the 1gr they're actually even casting new blocks. I have no idea if they're any good

 

See em a lot on 70 series in different styles. But I agree they look like shit on most things, even if they're useful

 

Where are the little orange lights? That's half the point.

 

They make a point of saying "new, not remanufactured". I think I'd rather have remanufactured Toyota parts than new mystery parts.

 

If it's any consolation I bought a completely built chinesium head with all new chinesium valvetrain already installed. I've got about 15k on the engine rebuild now and no hiccups so far.

 

As of Jan 1st of this year, all commercial Diesels without a diesel particulate filter, DEF, or EGR can no longer be operated in the state. So you start seeing operations like this who stack trucks on trucks on trucks and drive them to Central America.

I have no clue how they stack them like this. I’d love to see.
