I've found that if I park the truck east-west, and then I lay down underneath with my head toward the rear and beside the driver's tire, then run my arm up-right-forward-right, I can reach the oil filter the easiest. Of course, to see anything I have to pull out my arm. Then put it back. Ooops! There goes the shoulder, almost out of the socket. Shove that back, twist off the filter in eighth-inch movements, and put the new one on. No problem.
Who's so in love with the procedure of changing oil that they want to remove/reinstall a skid plate every time they service the truck? Are they using the Amsoil 25000 mile schedule, or what? I guess it'd be easier for me to change the air filter if I pulled off the right fender. Yeah, I'm a tad sarcastic, but what does Toyota employ engineers for if not to build things in intelligent ways?
You know how you gradually learned putting your seatbelt on as an invisible, automatic habit? That's how checking to make sure the seatbelt retracts is for me now.
I drive with my head on my wife's shoulder so I can see the clock and catch a few z's at the same time.
The eject button on my factory CD is broken somehow. Looks okay, until you push it in a tenth of a millimeter too far. Then it slides to the left, in behind the facing, and you have to use a long thin object and black magic to pull it back out again, and you gladly will because the alternative is taking the #$%@$%$%@#$% thing apart.
I've found that it's easy to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood in my DC's bed if I cut them into sixteen equal pieces.
The government didn't require my local gas stations to put in ethanol. It was a new substance called "Sendmymileagetocrapoline". Lost 5 mpg! Coincidentally, of course.
I hadn't thought about it, but everyone who mentioned a light for the bed...YOU'RE RIGHT! I didn't know I needed that. But now I can't live without it.
My tailgate is so dent-resistant that it took not one but two thumbs pressed lightly against it to make it look like a teenager with acne.
What is that black material around the outside bottom of the windows? You know the stuff that's apparently disintegrating in slow motion. Rough as 320 grit.
I don't like those seat side pieces either. The plastic stuff. Sticks up high enough so that if you don't get your rear far enough over into the seat when you get in, you get a nice Japanese wedgie. I think that's a little payback for Hiroshima.
I wouldn't trade my ride for anything.

As mentioned before, the clock placement and the seat belts not retracting. Other than that, all I can think of is how the little foam things in the cup holders break off so easily.

    2 into 1 lighter adapter!
    Hate:

    1. No pullout cup holders (Those who complained about theirs, at least you have some)!

    2. Manual adjusting side view mirrors. Impossible to reach and adjust passenger side.

    3. Shitty plastic latches on extracab windows.

    4. There are 3 power points on my Tacoma, can't one of them be hot!

    5. Nonfolding side mirrors.

I think you misunderstood me, I HATE my nonfolding side mirrors.

One of the power points ought to come hot from the factory...

Well. The little squeak from the dash I've learned to live with. Turn up the stereo..lol I've got the sunroof...yes I bought it new that way. The oil filter isn't that bad. After 194,000 miles the seats are broke in and ride pretty good. I've drove it to 3 coasts of the USA and loved every minute in it. I bought it with 4 miles on it. The time is almost here to trade for a new model, not because it's a better truck but I need a 4 door and a V6 truck. The thing I hate the most? That when all is said and done....I'm gonna miss that truck. I replaced the exhaust manifold.....that's it. In 11 years what other vehicle can you say you had absolutely no problems out of? I know the 2nd gen isn't going to be half the truck this one is. But they sure look good with a lift. :)

I'd love to keep my truck and see how far this thing would go. I have a feeling 500,000 isn't going to be shit! Hell I just replaced the original clutch at 184,000 miles.

    1. The clock. What moron designed it there, so the driver can't see it!?
    2. The seatbelt retracts most of the time, that is, if it doesn't get caught on the seat lever! (Xtra cab)
But I still love my Taco!

I don't own it anymore. Quit your bitching my 99 TRD was the best auto I ever owned. I'v had and built a lot of cars and trucks. Maybe I was lucky that little truck bullet proof. 222,000 miles then Toyota frame rust, I like my 08 but loved my99.
