Man the weather has been nice here, 54 yesterday, mid to upper 40s today, and upper 50s tomorrow and rain. The snow is just about gone. Now if I can just get a decent day on a Saturday I can ride my new bike home. This Saturday is out, gotta work and make Dat money

So me barely getting home last week with two nails + a dying battery made me a little nervous, so I started piecing together a tool kit. I've ordered a little Icon 1/4" ratchet set and got some 1/4" nut drivers and a Givi S250 tool box. I also got a Knipex plier wrench for easy to reach nuts and bolts and it is super cool.

    upload_2023-2-8_12-17-49.jpg

Also got a tire plug kit with a mini inflator. It's usually $80 but was on sale for $50 on Amazon. It also uses mushroom plugs which I think is a little better than rope plugs.

The only issue is the pouch it came in is thick.

Luckily everything fits under my seat perfectly. I added my Spyderco knife and pliers from the Kawasaki tool kit.

+1 for the knipex and the icon mini ratchet kit. Only other recommendation is to backfill the case for weird fasteners. On the bmw for instance they love both torx and external torx/splined bolts that can get real easily messed up by pliers/wrenches.

Oh, and don't forget zip ties and/or paracord. Saved my bacon when my sidestand spring stay broke off and wouldn't stay up, completely immobilizing my bike because of the sidestand switch. Tied the stand to the frame and rode home.

Thankfully the Versys doesn't have any weird fasteners like that. I may return the socket kit I got as I don't know if I should use the Icon mini ratchet ( ) with the 19mm socket. It's also pretty heavy and not sure it will fit in the Givi box.

I will also get spare fuses. Any other consumables I need?

If I'm off road, the other thing I carry is a tube of jb weld steel stick with some gorilla tape wrapped around the outside of the container. I always have a nightmare scenario in the back of my head of taking a hit to the crankcase, punching a hole in it, and losing all my oil.

Good call! I'm not planning on off-road stuff with the Versys. That is a whole different can of worms.

Nah, thats when I'd just tip it over and pray I still have some in there before it all comes out  Like whenever I need to do anything in the clutch basket, just tip it over and don't spill a drop.

I charged the Versys and got it started and stuck a voltmeter on it - around 14.4v with grips off and 13.5v with grips on, and it seemed to be holding steady. Even at 13.5v the battery shouldn't be complaining, right?

It was completely dead today and before I put it on the charger the battery read 9v. I'm guessing I should just get a new battery?

If you're showing 14.4 when it's running your charging system is doing its job. Sounds like a bad battery to me as well.

I knew it’s not going on the rear, but before I make the hitch hauler mounted on the tongue I wanted to just see what’s up on the rear..

The trailer squat is due to the leaf hangers. I fucked up location and need a redo

This will overall be better tongue weight especially at highway speeds
I plan on extending the tongue to accommodate the bike
