What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Does anyone know if Marlin crawler is still selling hd clutches and components? Every time I try to go to their hd clutch kit page it says access denied or pops up a 404 error. I can still view the pages to buy flywheels and pilot bearings etc. But no longer see the hd clutch pages.

 

Unfortunately, they entirely stopped selling clutch kits. I asked about the part numbers of the components they used, but they wouldn’t share.

The aisin kit is pretty easy to find, but the Seco disc they used isn’t easy to find at all.

Zane just got another kit, but I’m not sure he’s installed it to say how good it is. @Speedytech7

 

Yeah its a bummer.
I got a flywheel not too long ago from them and it was made by luk so... just a heads up.
I went LCE, been super happy with it vs my old tg asin kit. wish I got my flywheel from them as well.

 

Catch can went on yesterday. Did the research. Seems like a controversial mod if you’re not supercharged but figured might a well since: it will run a little cleaner, cheap, simple, I’m bored.

 

Had a pcv go bad and seeing that would have saved me a massive cleanup

 

I installed one recently and immediately got a low oil pressure light at idle. Removed it and it went away. Maybe I bungled the install, but I just returned it. PCV valve and grommet are brand new from a recent valve cover gasket job.

 

Interesting. I’ll keep an eye on it but so far so good.

Neither did I. I just worked backwards from what I had recently changed. Removing it fixed the issue immediately.

 

Looking at your throttle body has me curious if I can swap the spring section from an auto to have access to a third throttle cable attachment point for a thumb throttle...

tonight I finished cleaning the throttle body and iac.

 

I've had a hand throttle on my list for a long time, but what you really need is a crawlbox.

 

The moment the DRZ sells the order is getting placed with NWF! Or I can get lucky and get a bonus this year and place the order without selling, but I'd prefer it if it came from DRZ money. A dude on insta showed me how he setup a hand throttle just by drilling a hole on the one arm so that is an option too, but I like the cleaner idea of three purposeful hook ups. But yeah I think the crawl box would for the most part make the hand throttle unnecessary. The scariest oh shit moments were those times you are leaned back, front tire in the air, half a foot on the brake, the other half on the gas and feathering the clutch. Those are the times I wished so badly for the hand throttle...

 

That pesky clutch pedal.

 

Replaced the rear reverse lights with LEDS
Replaced the tie down with a @Coupe tie down.
Replaced the pig tail for the oil pressure switch shout out @mechanicjon for the link
Removed the ps res and cleaned the fuck out of it with Brakleen and replaced all the fluid.
Fixed the god awful noise my steering was making.

tightened the bolts holding my ifs steering box.

Cleaned and realigned my door and window gaskets so they don’t leak.
Replaced 3rd brake light gasket.

overall very productive day.

It’s crazy how much gunk gets stuck in the ps res. Took two cans of Brakleen to get it all cleaned out.

 

Is the butterfly fully closed in that pic? Almost looks like you’re a Maxbore candidate.

 

After I got mine maxbored I believe you could still see some light around the butterfly.

 

Drove to Hammertown USA

 

I am slightly pushing in the vacuum valve but not much. Still plenty of adjustment on the stopper to get it to close tighter if needed or I can try the shim trick on the spring side. Hard to truly show in pics but based on my guesses I think it’s going to be just fine.
