While serving as an officer in the military, singer, songwriter, actor, Kris Kristofferson trained as a helicopter pilot and later flew commercially, delivering supplies and personnel to offshore drilling rigs. He reportedly landed a chopper on Johnny Cash’ front lawn “with a beer in one hand and a stack of songs in the other”
Kris denies the last part. Saying he doesn’t drink when flying or driving. But anyway, Johnny agreed to record some of his songs and the legend began.
