Got refused at a Meineke and Pep Boys…..I thought the law was if a shop changes oil or sells oil they must take oil.

Googled the law and it says if they have an oil tank they must take it…..can’t imagine these places not having a tank to store their oil…..

    has the law changed?

What about the local landfill? Mine has a full service recycling center. Oil, anti freeze, steel, refrigerator/AC units etc.

These shops never had an issue in the past...........not sure if I got the wrong manager at the Meineke. Also asked the kid at Pep and he "didn't think so...."

Oh well guess i'll go the landfill route.....

Most townships have a place for residents to dump oil, paint, coolant, etc. Call your township

Autozone or your township. All NJ townships must have a facility to accept residential automotive waste.

Just call up a few and ask, someone will take it. I'm lucky my autozone takes it and my old town had a dump/recycling center that took used oil could look into that too.

I'm in NY but I find the easiest method is to bring the oil to Walmart after the department closes. Just leave it in a shopping cart by the automotive service desk and leave. No hassles.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
The Walmart here (NY near NJ border) has a service center and accepts used oil. Advance Auto does too.
