Hi, I currently own a 2022 4x4 Trd Sport Taco, right now I have a OME Essential Kit suspension which is 2" front and 1.25" rear with 33" tires, I did the CMC and still had rubbing issues so I added front top hat spacers and rear spacers as well to even 3.5" front and rear, I love the looks and got rid of the rubbing but I bounce more than desired while crawling, I bought an Icon Stage 10 to replace the OME, the Icon is supposed to go up to 2.75", do you guys think it would be bad for the suspension to add a 0.75" top hat to get back to the 3.5" I had? Before I didnt care much with a 1K suspension but I would like advice with a 6K suspension hehe, thanks in advance!

In the pictures you can see the current spacers and also how the rig looks.

Your complaint is bounce. What tire pressure do you run. What springs front and rear are you running.

It looks to me you have over 3” of lift.

There is only about 3” of down travel from the factory. For Every inch you lift the truck, you lose 1” of down travel. For optimal suspension performance you don’t want to be anywhere near 0” of down travel. In overly simplistic terms, think about your truck falling into every dip and hole on the road or trail because the suspension is unable to extend and maintain contact with the ground.

I am around 15ish psi, but the bounce is not the main issue, I am more concerned about running spacers with that suspension, just wondering if the risk of damaging it is high. And yeah I am at 3.5" right now, the Icon suspension will be installed in the next month but before that I wanted to know if I could also put spacers safely.

Thanks mate, so if I understood well, if I have the 2.75" suspension plus a 0.75" spacer I would have 2" of downtravel? Also my upper arms are for 3.5"

There is no good reason to install spacers along with coilovers with adjustable preload. You can instead adjust the preload to get whatever ride height you want within some limits.

You should measure it yourself, but a 2.75” lift will likely give you nearly 0 down travel. 3-2.75=.25. It depends on your starting ride height, shock length, and maybe some other things.

A top hat spacer is different and should be avoided if you are buying high end coilovers.

Note that the icon shocks might have an extra inch of down travel giving you 4-2.75=1.25” of down travel, which might still be on the low side but better than .25”.

However, last I checked they only claimed the extra inch if you used their UCAs.

Yeah the kit that I bought comes with their UCAs, besides that I already have RC UCAs for 3.5" lift

One other note after rereading your original post… a .75” top hat spacer will add 1.5” of lift because the coilover connects to approximately the middle of the lower control arm. This is called a motion ratio of 2:1.

you may be able to extend the springs on your coilovers without going to a higher springrate. My stock fox 2.5s came with a 13" 600lb spring, swapped to a 14" 600lb to get the lift where it needs to be without jacking the preload through the roof.

Spacers are trash. Use long cushy springs
