    Is anyone on this thread also in the "Alabama Tacomas and Tundras" group on Facebook? They are doing a ride in Talladega National Forest on 02/18 and with as active as this thread is, I figured some of you guys would be interested.

    Been working on this for a while now. Finally had time to cut out the prototype. It's only 20G so it can't hold any weight but it proves that all my dimensions are right. Now just have to cut it out of some 3/16 or 1/4 aluminum and its good to go :headbang:20230208_165646.jpg

    @Brian422

    Do you know what your towing capacity is? I keep seeing this

    The Tacoma has a towing capacity of between 3500-6400 lbs.

    The minimum towing capacity of 3500 lbs is for both the 4-cylinder and V6 powered Tacoma. It's only when you add the Tow Package to the V6 engine that the tow power is lengthened to 6400 lbs.

    I thought the only thing for the "tow package" was a trans cooler. Didn't think it would make such a difference. I was reading a badass regular cab thread and went googling :rofl:

    I think it's due to non tow package trucks not having a receiver hitch which means they would have to put the ball on the bumper.

    But you can buy a receiver hitch. I can see the difference b/t the 4 and 6cyl. I was just shocked that a 6cyl with and without the "tow package" was such a drastic difference.

    I know it doesn't change what's "on the books", but I wonder if you added a hitch and trans cooler to a regular cab 4cyl.....what could you safely tow.

    Plus, just to add more confusion.

    The 4 door Wrangler is rated at 3500
    In Europe it's rated at 5500.

    I thought I saw somewhere that the tow package is only available on the v6? If that’s right that would make up a good difference.

    Still doesn’t make sense with just a cooler.

    It is only available on the v6. I was just curious if a cooler and hitch would make a difference on the 4cyl. I know it wouldn't matter leagally....just thinking out loud :rofl:

    Dude I have no clue lol. I’ve messed with my truck so much. I can say I towed one of thighs uhaul double wheel trailers from orange beach to Birmingham with probably about 5k pounds of stuff in it back when my truck just had a lift on it and I burned through all the oil in it lol. That was before gears and stuff though lol
