My dilemma now. It needs to pass inspection once it’s ready for the road. You think it will pass at the referee all beast mode?

Referee? In California, to titled a salvage vehicle, you will need brake and lamp inspection. That's it, nothing else will matter. Make sure you have DOT headlights and all working exterior lighting along with new drum/shoe and rotor/pad.

I know 1 person who went in to get his brake/lamp inspection done and failed because the SA rotors wasn't factory tacoma, he end up using v6 vented rotor which is slightly smaller. But who's to say they will be that detail?

I would title it as a salvaged before the SA

Right. I can title it salvage, but it states it it needs to be drivable in order to have the salvage title and get the inspection. The LCA mount is fubar. Read somewhere that I need an airbag too. Sold it right before the accident. Doh! Haha. I think I found a way around this CA bs. Let’s see if it works.

I don't think air bag will be check. If you're worried, pulled the bulb in the cluster. That's why it's called brake lamp inspection, not a safety inspection.

You can title as salvage in SD without an inspection. This company helps through the process for 500$ which isn’t cheap but you would not have to deal with any of the cali junk.

In TX my inspector didn’t even step outside to look when I went in for a salvage inspection after I spent all the time repairing.

That's an option but one issue I see is OP will get pulled over for having out of state plate. Unless OP title it salvaged than title it back in CA. Only issue I can think of is CA DMV might have OP do a CA brake lamp inspection since it's salvage from another state. CA loves $$

Which air bag do you need? I'm going to be pulling the passenger side one here in a little bit and I still have the driver side one as well.

hmmm, I did research today and did not see anything about airbags, but I coulda swore I saw something yesterday. Idk.

this is what I’m leaning towards. I called them twice today and the ladies were so helpful and kind. They both laughed when I said , “gotta love CA”….. lol
Process seems to easy. No inspection needed.

this was my concern, so I reached out to my buddy and asked about that. He said it’s not an issue to officers. Don’t drive stupid os basically what he said.

I believe any vehicle being registered from another state in CA will require an inspection as well. We have done this for out of state private party sales. Buyer needs to have inspection completed before we finance the vehicle.

Speaking of, Monday was good. I received my payoff for the Tank. I got a nice bonus that will pay for my sons baseball tournament to Cooperstown NY this summer, and I got promoted to management. 2023 is looking good. Maybe SAS will finish off the year :D
