I think Nissan is involved with GM on that diesel engine.

I would love to have a Hilux. Especially the one from Top Gear. The one used to drive to the North Pole.

That is not a great deal, so I wouldn't think much for bargaining. Used Taco's retain their value hence the higher than expected prices on used.
Are you going to be happy with a 4 cylinder 5 lug, not prerunner?
I'd suggest you search a little about the 5 luggers, the wheel and lift options are limited.

Not all SR5's are prerunners. Alot of Prerunners come with SR5.

Prerunner can or can not be SR5, but to make it simple Prerunner is just another option like the SR5 and TRDs, there is also a convenience package that adds some of the SR5 options.

The OP is asking about a 5 lug 4 cylinder Access Cab, non prerunner, with SR5 package and no other options.

Per Toyota.com build your own, a 09 AC V6 auto Prerunner w/TRD is $27,160 and without TRD is $23,045. The non-prerunner I4 manual base is $20,129, with SR5 is $21,924, with just the convenience is $20,964.

It doesn't seem that the OP would qualify for any dealer incentives on financing and has stated he is trying to build his credit which is why he is looking for something used and around 15k. Maybe he can clarify his financial standing as many of the pricing/deals are relative to the individuals financial standing. Most of us may have gotten good deals and paid less than or around invoice with low interest rates without any trade in, but he may not be in the same standing.
I paid around 25-26k for mine brand new in 07 while a friend of mine paid around 29k for a used 05 right after I bought mine, she thinks she got a great deal. I was lucky to get that price and the low interest rate that I got since I got denied for a 20k used just months prior, so I'm thrilled even though other people have paid less.

Yes I realized that the reg cab in the 09 has the SR5 package. When I bought my 05 I believe only the prerunner had that package.

As for the pricing Toyota.com is full retail & not what people that have sense would pay. The prices I pulled are directly from Edmunds.com. These are the prices that these vehicles are selling for.

I was quoted from a Toyota dealer an 09 DC V6 TRD for $25K. About 2 months ago.

If he tells you he will only give you $5,500 and you tell him there is no way in hell you can manage that, you'll end up meeting midway (like 6 grand) at least, unless your good..... .... just have in mind how much you want to pay before you talk about the price of the taco and your trade in value.......... I've always remembered the rule of meeting midway "so everyone is happy!".....

i hope i didnt misread your post and maybe i just stated common sense but who knows?????

    Welcome to TW!

Save your money, and buy new! That's what I did. IMO, these trucks have such high resell value that it's doesn't make sense to buy used. Plus the most important part of a vehicle's life is the first couple thousand miles. My last truck I got burnt by "somebody else's problem" truck, and vowed never again.

As far as Toyota deals, they have 2.9% for 60 months. You're going to be hard-pressed to find that APR. You are going to have the crunch the numbers for yourself w/ everything that's envolved. Do everything through email before even walking into the dealership. You'll save yourself time, money, and no unwanted pressure to buy.

Dang, you guys are making me feel good about my deal. I bought a 2006 DC Prerunner sr5 (14,000 miles) for $16,000 OTD. It's a buyers market, especially for trucks man, you can get any thing really cheap now if you know what you're doing.

edit-and already had a tonneau cover (don't know how that's spelled) and tube steps.

I heard that Nissan was in bed with Caterpiller to produce a diesel for their Titans. Just a rumour though. No real world info to back it up.

Cause no one would by the Tacoma and there's how many millions of R&D dollars blown?

This is a picture of the tires from the used truck I am looking at ('06 Access Cab about 20k miles). My question is, will I be needing new tires soon? The tread life looks questionable, although he states it's got 70-80% left. Eh?

I'll be honest, I just put new tires on my truck about a year and a half ago and this is what they look like now and I have a pretty lengthy commute every third day of the week:

Those rugged trails are on the down side of tread life for sure, 20k. New tires would be in order especially if you have a long commute. I had them on a tundra, kept them rotated, pressure up etc. and the best I could get out of them was 25k. Most people get rid of them for other tires.
    Verdict? New tires imo.

Tread looks pretty much gone, ask the dealer what it reads on a tread depth indicator or have him do the penny test and take a pic.

Oh yeah, glad you are happy with the 4 banger you test drove...don't test drive the V6 TRD's or you will want one of those instead! :)

Did you get any other pics of this truck??

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I want one SO bad!! That thing is sexy!

Besides that I love my Tacoma. Gets me anywhere/everywhere I want to go, navigates/negotiates any terrain, I opt to trek over. Gets about 18.5mpg, for me anyways. Very comfortable ride, very quiet interior, and its a great looking truck! Lots of power, engine has plenty of Torque. I would definitely recommend buying a V6 model. Goodluck!

So the truck I was looking at in a different state finally sold. I had just gotten my loan pre-approved with my credit union, gave them a voided check to take payments out when the time came, and had off next week to actually take a look at it. It's gone now... all gone. This is the link but if you click "View Presentation" it's not in the database. I called and it's for sure gone. I feel like I've gotten my heart broken. Is that gay? Probably... I just loved everything about the truck, from the color, to the grille/tail light guards, off road package, and the list goes on.
