Absolutely not, I just did my 15 about 3 months ago oem rotors, pads and hardware no issues. Check online you probably can find better pricing for the parts than a local dealer. I purchase a lot from : https://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.com/

I have never turned a new rotor.

I don't even turn old rotors when putting on new pads. IE 1 rotor, 2 sets of pads. But I bed the new pads to the old rotors and they conform just fine.

On my SCCA car I did run quality slotted rotors because 1) I got a screaming deal and 2) they did seem to help on very wet days.

But even at events were I ran cold high bite pads, I never had rotor issues.

Stop Tech has some good articles about brake pulsation, and it's mostly from pad material build up,as it's very difficult to actually get that slab of cast iron hot enough to warp.

Yes the vaning on rotors is reduce heat build up, but more to prevent brake fade from boiling fluid.

I also replaced my OEM rotors because of pulsing after around 35k miles. Previous vehicles i had a pair of new brembos that i took to get cut before installing and im glad i did. Centric from Rock auto were warped out of the box. Autozone duralast gold have always been true based on my 2 separate installs on 2 different vehicles.

Ensure whenever your wheels are removed that they're torqued properly, as in when you turn the torque when they should move before clicking. If the torque wrench doesn't turn before it clicks then it's not properly torqued and could be the cause of your rotors warping. Learned my lesson personally and professionally. 9/10 times at the dealership someone that came in with warped rotors also came in with over torqued lug nuts

Thanks for that link. $58 per rotor seems very reasonable! Should I go with the OEM ceramic pads?

I’d go with oem, but it’s your truck do what you like

I save all my receipts EXCEPT the ones for these latest rotors. I am not sure what brand they are. Keep hearing about China buying all the steel and that rotors today are crap. Who knows? if the ones currently on my truck now are inferior, I would rather just get new ones. I would hate to have them cut, new brakes installed and to have them warp quickly again.

You can always get one good cut on you old rotors, but it’s getting harder and harder to find a quality auto parts machine shop to cut them, and for the cost to cut or replace for a little more money you can install new rotors

That's what I thought until I brought my new 2005 F150 to get new brakes. Mechanic said new rotors needed. I ask to cut them and he said not these rotors. Said Ford used inferior quality rotors. Don't know how true that was??

I don’t know about that, I have 3 F series trucks at work, our mechanic always replaces rotors due to its faster to repair and no issues with vibrations later. Trucks down don’t make money which is not good.

I’m not young and I have never replaced or machined my rotors. I have however wore my pads down to metal when I was young, stupid, and broke. I find these threads a curiosity. I also read discussion that suggested that rotors do not warp, but can become less flat than spec.

They warp from heat causing vibration and uneven braking which will be felt in the steering wheel.

I’ve personally never experienced that and the limited research I did on the subject suggested rotors don’t warp due to heat, but it’s possible for them to wear unevenly causing them to not be flat within spec.

These threads make me think some people are harder on their brakes than I can imagine or that they are very sensitive about perfect performance
