The problem with buying the first model year of a new gen (besides the reliability coin toss) is that it's almost certain that the submodel that you really want won't surface until year 2 or 3...

I saw a new Tundra Pro in black this morning. Gorgeous, big ass grille and all. But I wondered what the price was for it…

$85k if you can find one not marked up stupid. Still think it’s funky looking. Not sure what I’m gonna do. About to just pull trigger on stage 2 fox setup and wait it out.

$85,000 for a pick up truck. The sticker price for my 2008 Land Cruiser was $63,000 which is about $86,000 in today’s money. Holy shit.

Think I like that better than the Sequoia, more subdued looks and much better cargo area. Wonder if they are going to offer a Woodland edition, slightly lifted for just enough clearance for gravel FS roads without going overkill.

    Actually…if we were in Europe.

Right. Have you looked at halfway decent equipped F150s? $70k

Isn't the big difference, you see a $70k Tundra and you'll be paying $65k. Where if you see a $70k F150/Silverado/Ram you'll be paying closer to $55-60k? (at least way back in 2019)

3/4 tons are over 6 figures for fully rigged out ones. Pretty crazy these days.

The high costs of trucks is why there’s a market for a SR with the old and reliable 2.7. Everyone doesn’t buy the top trims. Some people just want a no frills, reliable truck. You can’t get more reliable than the 2.7.

Even adjusted for inflation, those SR's are going home for the same, if not more money than I paid for my OR.

The rising of prices has effectively moved every model available up the ladder and there is now no lower rungs on it. SR's just "look" like a deal due to the company they keep. A "cheap" truck will always have a market in this country.

There is a lower rung it’s just not as low as it used to be and it’s still cheaper than the alternative. Yeah a SR is as much as a OR was 5 years ago but it’s a hell out of lot cheaper than everything else in the current market. And you’re right, there will always be a market for a cheap truck. Unfortunately, that’s the current market.

I don’t know why they killed the Land Cruiser and I don’t know why they think that they can compete in a field mostly occupied by the Germans and Land Rover.

^Probably because the LX outsold the Land Cruiser 10 to 1. And keep in mind Toyota has been in the luxury SUV game a lot longer than the Germans.

Because the Lexus and LandCruiser were the sameish price and if ya paying 80k+ you want the neighbors to know ya spent money
