Finally got mine installed today. I used both BigWhiteTRD and lapoltba's instructions and except for the fear factor pulling that outboard clip loose on the airbag everything went smoothly. I'm ready to haul the TT now.

Did you have to disconnect the air bag. Or just some clip holding it in?

    What made it fearful?

You can do it without disconnecting the airbag. It's a pain in the ass because the clips holding it in are just so damn tight. You have to yank on it with just about all your body weight to get them to come free. Supposedly you can stick a thin flat blade screwdriver in where the tabs are to get them to release, but I never had any luck doing that (even when I knew exactly where they were).

I guess I should review the threads more in depth

You need to remove the glove box to access the 4x4 ECU behind it. In order to remove the glove box, the airbag along with a few other minor trim panels need to be removed. It's really not that bad if you take your time.

The clip holds very strongly and I've had to many experiences breaking clips.

I put a little pressure on \it with a screwdriver, then held my breath and yanked, popped right off.

    This.

Just got it all done. Took about an hour.
The air bag clips were very easy for me at least.

I did NOT have to remove you head unit to run the button cable to my location.

I used an unused spot to the left of the side mirror defrost button, which is directly under the 4x4 selection knob.

    This mod is awesome!

It is a great function. I’ve literally used it 20 times for no reasons other than it’s fun to turn it on and feel it work. I like to idle up my driveway with only the clutch just for fun. Sounds weird but it is cool.

Ya, I can see that for sure.... I can't believe it took me so long to order the silly button! Lol

I would be interested to see how it does off road as well

Finally got around to installing mine. Nice instructions and probably under 1 hour. I had previously installed the switch(s) and ran the wiring harness when I installed my LCi6 and 4 channel amp.

Mod works exactly as described ! Cheers.
First time there was an error cycling out of it. But I followed card instructions and it reset also as card mentioned.

May order up a custom dimmer plug and play harness to take the brightness of the switches down but currently my OCD is allowing it. 20221017_182911.jpg

I used a really low-tech method to reduce the brightness of my switch. I painted over the always-on LED with black paint. Now it's only a very very faint glow when the switch is inactive.

Howdy, did this about a year and absolutely love it! Essential for backing up our little Casita trailer into its parking spot with the MT.

question: If I’m in 2low, and I depress my 2low button, is that going to put it directly into 4low(engaging add), or do I need to press, cycle back to 2hi, and regular process back to to 4low?

Just curious if I can take a shortcut to 4low from 2low. Thanks!

Have to cycle back through. 2LO button disables the ADD and tricks the computer. Unclicking 2LO when in 2LO unbypasses the ADD but at that point the computer isn’t really looking for it anymore. The ADD is still disengaged. Have to shift back to 2HI, then back to 4LO to get true 4LO.

I used it today, cycled back through to 2wd and hit the 2lo button, but still got the shift change alert. Cycled the ignition on/off, and it went away

Yes. Procedure errors will self-clear like that. But, do note that it sets a permanent code in the ECU. No CEL, just the stored coed.

Just in case that question ever comes up.

Got it. The 2lo button needs to be pressed before coming out of 4 lo. I should have read the card! :frusty:

Any way to clear the code? Not that I need to, unless I may need warranty work :notsure:
