Nice. That’s interesting about the defaults, is that a setting in the cam tool or something on the table?

Just don't get audited... you can claim whatever you want, but in an audit you have to prove it

You are not. I believe the federal govt can go back 7 years. I've had corrections to submit as far as 4 years back and I'm a small fish

Yeah my situation was a cheap buisness owner passing the accounting burden onto the employee who was too naive to say no

I had added a tool profile, thinking I was adding a default setting for say 12 gauge.

Instead I messed some other part of it, and when I was creating a profile for what I was going to cut, my tool profile was being selected with a speed I never set myself.

You're taking extensive notes so JFM Hydrualics can pay KwikFab a consulting fee for those notes right?

This. They can go back 7 years and they will. Moreso if you just flat out don't do your taxes at all but any inconsistencies or mistakes they are likely to as well. This is why I think it's a good idea to use an accountant if you're involved in your own biz, self employed or 1099 income etc. unless you're really adept at the process. Worth the money for the peace of mind imo

Can you even pre-pay tax if you got a 1099? I did it one year when I interned but I owed like $2500 because nothing was ever taken out

Ah ok. Those tools always seem a little obtuse.

    Read above.

    Reiterated by Jimmie.

    Correct.

@Running Board Man Don't shoot yourself in the foot thinking you can't get audited, and don't offer bad advice either. None of us here AFAIK are CPA's, or at the very least hold a license for tax preparation, but it seems the majority understand what is needed to safely claim a tax deduction.

There are also limitations as well, and that whole mileage thing, food, lodging, etc is per diem.

I got audited 2 years ago and fortunately was able to keep some stuff low or off from being used against me (old email copies with receipts, etc). But I'm also paying some back after getting fucked by my old CPA who basically left the country.

    Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing.

I just draw something, open it on another program, create some G code, send it to another program, and metal gets cut.
