    Low speed= 30mph into a stump?
Without seeing the whole thing, maybe some buffing, axle, spring set, some bed supports.
Maybe insurance thinks they can get more for the truck than they pay out. Get a bidding war going.

its equal to the price they pay him out and then recoup from selling the wreck at auction.

If you want a half ass repair, some cheap ass u bolts will get you on the road. Sure you will be driving down the road \ \ sideways, but hey your truck was not totaled, right? You don't need paint, scratches add character.

To get that truck to factory spec, will cost money for parts and money for labor. That's why insurance deemed it totaled.

I know from experience that to R&R a bed side was 4500, Just one bedside. with all factory oem parts.
Bedside, over fender, fenderliner, mudflap and bumper cap, along with the internal brace.

If you want a Bondo special repair, on fuck it Friday, a steak and a 24 pack should get you going.

Hard to really tell from just these two pictures, but looking that the gap between cab and bed side in the second picture, there's a pretty fair chance of frame damage. I'd love to see some more pics, along with more information about where specifically got hit and by what.

What is equal to the price of the vehicle? Most insurance companies write them off when damages are 70% of the vehicles value. Some companies are even doing this at 60% due to delays with parts and rising costs of rental vehicles.

My Tacoma got hit is roughly the same area, only the wheel wasn't moved. It took a month, but it was fixed. Cost was $6,500, mostly for labor and paint. Wheel and fender flair were replaced along with a lot of smaller stuff. Body guy said he could have repaired the fender flair, but insurance paid for replacement.

The OP's truck a harder hit and obviously his Left rear wheel was pushed back. I'd have to guess that if they are totally it, it's because there is frame and maybe rear axle housing damage.

BTW, insurance companies don't sell parts. They send totaled vehicles to salvage pools where they are auctioned off. At least that's how they did it back when my Dad owned and auto salvage. At that time, he had contracts with a couple of insurance companies to buy cars that they determined had less than $500.00 salvage value. That was 40 plus years ago, so it might have changed.

Here it is fixed. He ended up painting the entire left side so it would all match.

    Hmmm,

Similar hit, small damage to cab, destroyed a set of Denver’s, the rear shackle, bent the shaft of a triple bypass Fox shock, bent rear axle housing, broke driveshaft and rear trans support, and a fiberglass fender.

Fought insurance for months, but was not totaled.

Looks like the SR5 badge went back a bit too high up the door, compared to before. At least you know they removed it before painting.

OP, the reality is if you're really wanting to try and stop your truck from becoming a total loss you'll need to actively work with the adjuster on your claim. You'll need to provide them with some type of justification/reasoning why you think your truck isn't a total loss, and unfortunately pointing them to this thread with a bunch of opinions from us yahoos here at TW won't be sufficient enough. ;) Probably your best option would be trying to work with an auto body repair shop and seeing what they quote you on repairs and taking that back to the insurance company. This obviously assumes the repair quote is less than the value of your truck, but I'd imagine if it's anywhere near the truck's value they will still deem it a total loss as repair quotes/estimates can easily be overrun once the actual repair begins.

So...needs a shock, leaf spring pin, and a couple u-bolts?

If the truck is still in your possession, I'd change these things and see if it still drives straight. If it does...take their money.
