Too easy to come back when it's absurdly hot in the summer. How about FL? :p

Despite my trash talking, I'm looking forward to heading south in a few months to catch some warmer weather.

If I want warm, I'll go over the hill and visit my parents. I'll sit in the yard and call in turkeys or lust after 4 point bucks giving me the equivalent of a middle finger, knowing I can't put a .308" hole in them.

I don't mind warm weather, but my genetics seem predisposed to handle cold, wet, crappy weather on a regular basis. All that European peasant stock in my blood, I wager.

Went out near summit 1 above Verdi to have some fun and got stuck in some snow around 18-24" deep (not fun), the road I was stuck on only had snowmobile tracks on it so that should have told me everything I needed to know but DOH me. I ended up winching from tree to tree for about an hour making very slow progress until a Gladiator out of nowhere pulled up and boy was I glad to see him, apparently he's part of the 775 offroad rescue group on facebook? I don't have a FB so I wasn't aware of it but if you're like me he said they also have a website you can contact, www.775ofr.com.
We ended up stringing out both of our winches plus added a 20' tow strap and a 30' kinetic rope to make it reach. Made it out and down to Verdi at about 10:30pm... don't think I could have ran into anyone better for the situation. Relentless fab bumper and superwinch were both up for the job.. neither piece of equipment batted an eye.

As a side note, there was another 3rd gen Taco that I didn't know who followed me up to summit 1 and as soon as they saw me get stuck they literally turned around and left and didn't even bother to ask if I needed assistance/help or anything, I wanted to b*tch slap that guy so bad.

Well, it’s official now. I’ll be up in winnemucca from mid May- end august

Anyone got some favorite trails or neat campsites they’d like to share? Can pm if you don’t want it out on the open internet. But I’m sure occasionally I’ll just do some random exploring

Are you by chance interning or something for NGM?

My cousin took me out to some really scenic trails and to a hot springs out near Paradise Valley years ago... Water canyon's another nice spot but not a ton to explore in a vehicle, I wrecked a old Durango I had on this road going too fast. We would also mobb out on Jungo road to the black rock playa and a couple times to the town of Midas. Endless exploring out that way.

Doin wildlands fire for winnemucca BLM.
Assuming no knee issues randomly pop up again. Last year missed out cus of a surprise surgery.

And noted on the trails and whatnot. I’ll try to explore at least a bit in the off time. Light fire season would be good

Damn you seem way to young to be having knee issues.. hope you're able to get past that, doesn't seem like alotta fun but I bet it'll be a fun experience out there though. I lived in Elko for a number of years, the people were great, beautiful area and endless places to see but man the ruralness sucked, especially for a young single guy at the time. Always felt the same about Winnefukka and Battle Mountain.

Kinda hit the nail on the head but my knee is all up to me now. Just pain tolerance battle till I get a replacement. Hopefully work will keep me busy enough I won’t feel the ruralness but I’ve heard the fire guys keep a good circle and usually have things goin on outside of work so that’s promising.

That line of work just about sounds counter intuitive to what someone with a knee issue would pursue. Bet you'll be plenty busy and working along some solid folks.

I’m past the point of preventing a replacement. it’s all pain tolerance for now. Good and bad I guess. But imma live my life how I want. I’m not changing my way of life and activity levels at 20. Stubborn? Probably.

Did some much needed maintenance on my UCAs and coilovers today rust was doe to a sidewall blow and me being unable to swap the spare on a trail. Removed all the paint on the UCA. Cleaned the coilovers and greased all mu bushings as well. 20230209_092621.jpg 20230209_094226.jpg

Hey if anyone is selling fox 2.5 shocks with reservoirs and DSC let me know. Likewise with front coilovers. DSC is not needed on the coils.

I think I'm going to hit up Jarbidge, mid July if anyone is interested. Probably 4 days total, base camp somewhere around there and day trip out. I know a ton of that country east and south but nothing really north. I'll probably haul the shitbox trailer.
