I wonder if they changed the materials. Mine is still black (minus some dirt) after 3 years of my ownership and presumably several years by the previous owner in Connecticut.

One helpful thing I did for the OEM Tonneau removal was to spend $25 on Amazon for a breaker bar and a 12mm socket; this combination sits in the door cup-holder pocket of the right rear door just perfectly and doesn't slide around or make any other noise.

Thanks!! My stuff I’m not so worried about but we recently had a baby and now I think about the stroller, pack-n-play, etc. things I can’t keep in totes in the bed getting wet.

I've had my toyota oem cover for 3 years also...had the truck ordered with it among other stuff. I treat it every 4 months with this wolfsteins tonneau cover protectant the dealer supplied me with. Cover still looks brand new. It seals quite well, as i've heard some will leak.

@The_vue's, how did the rest of your bed look after you "broke" the cover?

The OEM tri-fold has latching tabs that are attached to the sides of the bed. (Installed at the factory or port.) If you found a used cover, you would also need the hardware. No idea how hard this would be to retro-fit or install. FYI

Everything ok beside the middle section cover. Very lucky I was afraid I broke my rear glass. It was loud when it broke and the glass would been an expensive repair.

I have all the hardware and rail caps for an oem cover LB. Kept that stuff, tossed cover in dumpster.

I've been a truck guy for nearly 30 years now - since 1996 when I got my first vehicle (89 toyota pickup) - and I've had a cover on all of them since.

I'm really happy with the OEM cover that came on my 2023. The first time I got gas, I noticed it was a little flappy on the back and front corners - and so I learned about the "double click" - this fixed that...it's pretty snug. I haven't noticed any water in the bed personally and been through two rains now. If I did notice any water, I would mark where the rubber sits...remove the cover, and put some clear caulk down right inside of where the factory rubber seal sits...let it dry, and then reinstall the cover over top of that caulk.

I would expect the factory OEM plastic to fade less than aftermarket - but I would still think that applying some type of protectant would be prudent. My choice will be Aerospace 303.

Agreed. While mine is far from “new black” and I don’t run mine in the summer anymore, mine is definitely more black than that (and comes right back after some 303) and mine is a 2016.

I have one for sale. Long Island, NY so not sure how close or far you are from me. Shipping it will most likely be pricey.

I know that's crazy. 300 just for the center piece. I'm pretty much waiting for someone to have one to junk and I can part it. Or a trade, my cut rails trims plus all hardware for your uncut trim. Just those pieces alone are expensive as well. I think the glass is pushing a G plus.

I would practically give mine away to anyone willing to come get it AND hook me up with some fresh, uncut bed-caps. That's the hardest part about switching off from the OEM setup, in my experience. Virginia Beach, VA for the curious.

One of the first things I did was to replace the OEM Tonneau cover with a Diamondback HD cover. I haven't looked back!

When I purchased NEW, I immediately sold it as I knew I would want something much stronger.

I do know that there are folks that may like the OEM Tonneau cover and if you have one try cleaning it up and selling it. Not certain what you can get for it but include the rails for it.

    My 2.5 cents :)
