You’re not wrong but being able to charge at twice that speed if needed in public could come in handy. It would be interesting to know what the cost savings per unit are by not having a faster charge rate. At home/shop you’re only needing AC charging at 11.5kw max in most cases anyway.

I'm sure the cost difference between chargers isn't that much. All EV makers, except Tesla, are struggling to make a profit so every dollar counts.

Charging speed for a daily work van isn't that important, but it also looks like a good platform for an RV and it would suck as a road tripper. To be honest they need different configurations, smaller/bigger batteries, faster/slower DC charging. I think the article hinted at different configurations, so maybe in the future.

Tesla does not spend much on “new” models the way other companies do. And right now Tesla just does not look like a healthy investment.

It is true Tesla doesn't fiddle with their sheet metal much, but then again neither does Toyota. The Tacoma goes about 10 years between refreshes. As for making money selling EV's it seems Tesla is the only one doing that.

You guys are in for a surprise when you find out there’s not enough minerals in the earth to replace all your trucks with electric vehicles and the NWO is going to break the news that you have to share an EV with your neighborhood and eat crickets.

I imagine the surface of the Earth will become a waste land from extracting resources. Trying to solve one problem will create a plethora of others.

On that same note the world only has enough oil in proven reserves to last for 47 years at the current annual rate of consumption. Resources are not limitless and we humans are good at ignoring that until it’s nearly too late.

We have the ability to make combustion engines that get 70mpg- way greener than electric vehicles. Also- good luck to the manufacturers trying to mass produce these with the global supply chain problems we will see in the next year as a result of the Russia/ukraine conflict. We haven’t seen nothing yet.

California governor wants all new vehicles sales to be electric by 2035 and then in the summer has rolling blackouts trying to keep the electrical grid online and tells people not to charge their electric vehicles. Do you guys see the insanity or is it just me?

They’ve been saying that for 50 years. And okay let’s put the money in developing hydrogen powered vehicles then or something that actually makes sense. Not electric vehicles which destroy the earth, contaminate water tables, cause modern day slavery in Africa, and are not carbon neutral in any way shape or form.

No one thing is the answer. ICE isn’t going anywhere any time soon, EV batteries are becoming more efficient and less resource intensive, oil reserves are explored and found, etc. EVs create less atmospheric pollution from the mine to the junkyard than a comparable ICE vehicle and are an improvement in many ways. All battery materials are fully reusable and it’s only a matter of time until recycling is profitable enough to be adopted on a wide scale.

It’s no conspiracy that extraction of resources isn’t exactly environmentally friendly. Have you ever been to a large scale copper mine? Or a super fund site? Solar arrays destroy local habitats, wind farms kills off avian populations. It isn’t gas guzzling SUVs that are the problem, it is us.

Friend of mine husband job was to relocate desert tortoises from solar sites, the relocation usually kills them. They closed areas to OHVs because of the tortoises, but solar arrays are ok?

Are we really saving the planet, or is it just an exercise of “feel good actions”?

On another note: Musk is a funny dude, for a guy who wants to save humanity, he sure isn’t very nice to people.
