It appears that I am a victim of a rear main seal leak at 78k miles. My question is, does anybody think Toyota would do a good will repair since I'm about 3-4000 miles out of the extended warranty?

I’d think they might be willing to tighten up the bolts for you for free, but I doubt they’ll open up the differential case for it.

You won’t know the real answer if you don’t go to a real dealer and ask.

Typically, yes. Be polite and firm, it's easier if you have history with a dealership.

It's 5 year 60,000miles, how do you have warranty still?

How bad is the leak? A seep or actual drops on the ground?

I think it depends a lot on the dealer if you've been a loyal customer of theirs...and one of toyota's for many years. The fact is, i was told even if one month out of warranty after refusing any extended warranty contract, your now sol, as toyota no longer will give the store away.

I bought the extended warranty, I was afraid something like this would happen but I didn't expect to be out of warranty when it happened

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Have you recently changed your oil with one of those big mileage ones? Believe that can cause the seals to leak. Any be worth a $50 expiramwnt to change the oil again.
