I’ve had bad luck with Toyota batteries over the years. My 2020 Tacoma Limited is about to turn 3. What is the best replacement these days?

It's a battery brother, pick one! Spend good money on a quality unit and you really can't go wrong here.

Or get the Interstate from Costco for less than most. Mine in my 4runner is 7 years old and going strong in this MN winter still.

Unfortunately I don’t have Costco near me. Just SamsClub and BJ’s.

This. I used to sell batteries, and they are all basically the same. Pick your favorite flavor, with a good warranty and you will be happy. Regardless of brands they all have an average life of 3-4 years.

I would go to dealer and have them replace it if it's going bad. Take a free one. I know you are saying you have had bad luck, but shit it's free. They replaced mine after 3+ years. No charge. New one has been fine.

I run interstate. Just replaced my wife's CRV battery with interstate. Not fancy, not expensive, no frills, just good reliability and consistency. This is probably my 20th replacement battery I have purchased throughout the years. I have bought Optima, Duralast, etc but interstate is a known quantity and consistency. It simply works for a good amount of time.

I hear that the interstate AMG battery is amazing. I’m going to try it after the optima goes out.

Interstate does not make batteries; they are a battery marketing and distribution company. Their batteries are made mostly by Exide and Clarios, but others as well. Not saying they are bad. Just not much different than getting a walmart or autozone battery, except green is prettier. I get Costco Interstate myself, but will vouch for East Penn Deka Intimidator battery if you can find it.

Yeah most names on the battery are not the ones making them, nothing new there. Many battery names are made by the same company but that does not mean they are all the same except for the label.

My Tacoma OEM battery lasted 3 1/2 years. Honda OEM battery in my Accord lasted over 7 years, second OEM over 5 years. Interstate, Duralast have lasted me 3 1/2 -4 years in Accords (I’ve had 3).
My choice for replacing my Tacoma battery last month:
    2D480CF1-9ECF-4C5B-B1E3-732F8CD59125.jpg
They didn’t have the premium Everstart in stock so as an experiment and for fun I chose this one, reports are it lasts from 6 months to over 4 years. I post this here to trigger the AGM! and “gotta pay as much as you can!” TW members lol.

I have always had good experience with optima red or yellow tops as well as odyssey batteries, all 3 are AGM batteries. Haven’t ran them in my Tacoma yet, but I have a lot of experience with them in other vehicles and machinery.

What did you have to do, if any, to get it to fit? Just the tie-downs? Thanks!
