The 7.5 case cannot take side load very well in general but the center is very small for a lunchbox, in the front where wheels are often at different speeds its just a bad idea I think. If it's a beater and you don't mind the consequences, there's no harm, replacement stock diffs are cheap enough. But if it was a diff I already geared theres no way I'm letting a $350 auto locker waste it. They're probably stronger in a lot of larger gearsets, but I'm not willing to use one, I want the control that way when it blows up it's my choice to have left it on rather than its. They're a cheap alternative and have their place, but their place isn't in anything important to me.

One area where I'd rather plunk down the money or just keep running 'em open. Granted I don't do remotely what a lot of you all do, but I'd prob just have an ARB installed and call it good rather than going bargain or lunchbox etc

That’s a good offer. I’m still deciding if I want/need the extra capability, but I’m weighing it against the possible on-road penalties (overheated for 32s, possible wonkiness in snow/wet with front LSD). I guess my other option is to keep the 4.10s and get a Harrop e locker for the back, or it should be good enough with open diffs for 99.9% of what I do.

ok, yeah, I'll agree in that case. the 7.5 does make me anxious and a full carrier like the ARB gives me a lot of peace of mind.

A 4cyl 8" lunchbox locker is pretty strong which is where I'm coming from haha. They're actually stronger than the 8" V6 lunchboxes

Definitely a lot of gear for 32s and a manual trans without a lot of extra weight, but if you stepped up another inch in tires it would be justifiable. Who knows maybe you'd like the LSD.

I'd just settle for waffle house and a 6 pack of Natty's right now. I miss waffle house, literally the only thing from AZ I wish we had here.

I haven't played with the 4 cyl diffs much, aren't the V6 centers stronger because they're a dual crosspin setup? I know the exterior of the case is maybe marginally strong on a V6 third at least because of the extra rib. I have a welded V6 third here that needs to go and we tossed out the 4 cyl front cause running low pinion on a front felt wrong.

Anyway I wanna test it on some more trails with the current setup to see how it does before I make a decision.

Lol I already have a rear locker switch in my truck. I think the wiring is there too. But I agree it’s probably overkill. But then again, better to have it and not need it right?:D
