Any fun options for the ice maker or washer hookups?

This one rules. For sure I’m ordering it.

managed to not cut any wires doing this today. Getting hands dirty with some alternating current tomorrow.

 

Ok, rats, that mag solution rules but what it’s missing is the primary goal of pushing the dryer back towards the wall. I’ll have to do a box in the stud bay somehow. Unclear which of the two options to buy, wish they had clear photos of what each kit includes.

Ah but only the 180 in stock anyway so we will see what that looks like. I may order an in wall recessed kit as well and see if I can marry all that up.

MV-90 could be in-wall mounted , where does your dryer vent go , straight through the wall behind or no ?

 

Any tricks on stuffing the 180 inside the wall? I think it’s 2x4 studs.

 

What route does your venting take once it exits the dryer ?

 

Down through the stud bay into the crawlspace. Across the width of the kitchen to the exterior wall through the siding just above the footing through a vent.

we are likely removing all the ceiling drywall but don’t relish cutting 4” holes in a ton of floor joists.

Dryer vent stud bay has no plumbing or electrical, and it’s interior so no insulation.

I could get better photos.

 

can you not install a 4" elbow in the wall at dryer vent height ?

 

That’s what we have. Want to stuff the dryer as close to the wall as possible. We have the XXXXL ones from LG which can fit a large bear and a few cubs.

i mean have the elbow in the wall cavity , can't get much closer than flush to wall

Doesn’t look like that helps with space between dryer and wall much. I like the magnetic coupler the best, kind of annoying to have to install an in wall for one dryer which might be off for a new dryer.

 

Yeah, exactly, just that most are set up to feed up rather than down and 2x4 can’t do 4” ducting in that cavity.

 

That looks good. I’ll confirm 14” tomorrow. It might be a slim bay. Thanks. That might still work with the mag.

 

Perhaps you misread the instructions. This allows for the dryer to be tight to the wall. The gray piece connects to the dryer and slides inside the wall mounted apparatus/elbow.

 

Pretty big grey piece straight pipe per the video. For a 2x4 wall I don’t see how it improves much vs a short coil of flex. Would be great if their video actually showed the dryer hookup part. Kind of massive failure in that regard, leaving out the most important part.

but more to the point, this is another up rather than down solution. Which works great for an upward vent. Mine happens to be down. Which could potentially be changed but down seems preferable as crawlspace access is good.

also, I’ll add that this specific solution kills the add / remove of pedestal. Not really ideal to future proof for the next dryer one might buy. Sub optimal in terms of flexibility down the road.

thinking more about my specific situation, the other side of the wall is a double oven which I assume will have a drawer below it. I may be able to have the flange in the stud bay and elbow through the floor on the kitchen side of the wall. Then just block it out and drywall the box. I’ll have to locate and inspect the oven cabinet to see how much room I have to play with.

Not sure there is any code in the way of this plan. Seems above board.

 

you can get round to oval elbows

 

Yeah, just tight w downward vent. Not much room for an elbow without a pedestal and we don’t currently have those. Could do a side 90 but 16” for two 90’s is tight.

The mag is killer, I have hopes of being able to use that. Great idea.

 

The Mag Vent is awesome , not sure you will be able to combine a MV-180 with s Dryerbox though
