For less than $80 you can buy a gallon of FF and the gun and coat it many times. On the ground turn the wheels lock to lock it's a bit tight but you can get every thing covered. Only thing I would worry about first go around a garden hose wash then let it dry. Damn I just had mine on the lift I should have taken pictures. 12 years of Maine winters frame's blacker than it was new.

OK, that's a bit sobering. 1k would be noticeable in my budget. And I think I know the place you mean -- Truck Trends in Tilton NH

Change of topic. Talking with a friend, she asked what is already on the truck for protection. So is there anything that Toyota applies to any of the metal at the factory?

On my '02 SR5, up under the front fenders, the sheet metal is not smooth, it's kind of a rippling surface, over which there is the red paint. It's hard; I doubt I could chip it off with a hammer and chisel. I'm presuming that rust treatments have to cover the sheet metal, not just the steel of the frame and springs and all.

And I should avoid any kind of electrical connectors (are there any?) And what about things like connectors in brake lines, or any other kind of connector that needs to be connected and disconnected (are there any?). You can see I'm not very fluent in what's all the stuff down below. I don't know what a chin spoiler is.

And hard to get to places - over the tops of things, like the gas tank? Or between the leafs of the springs (do you say leaves or leafs?). I saw one video where the guy said it really helps to have the sprayer wand for that, right? And the sprayer isn't too expensive.

I guess the answer is -- go find videos

Well, if the BossWax/NHOU job is really one time for $1000, with warranty to touch up for free, that is less worrisome. Sounds like all the others are to repeat every year, so if I get 10 years then that's $100 a year. And my '02 SR5 lasted 20 years (I would be interested to see the warranty still good then ... )

I did nothing to my 2021. Although I do live on Long Island, but Ive never under coated any truck or Jeep that Ive owned. I would just take it to the pay and spray car wash periodically during the winter to get the salt off. Frame looks practically spotless

I’m guessing they’re not spread salt in your area?

They do, but its a mixture of sand and salt. Some towns use Beet Juice.

    OK, cool great to know.

Down here in the Midwest, there’s a major issue with corrosion from salt and brine.

If I resided where you are or further up north , I would coat the frame.

Give your frame about 3 more years. I live just north in connecticut, I know about how much they like salt here.

Lots of good options and avoid anything 'rubberized' as suggested. Personally I've used the PB Blaster Surface Shield since a frame replacement in2020. Supposed to hang on longer than most from my research. Ohio uses the frame killing brine here, so.....

If you’re going to do it yourself I think a thing to consider is just how many times you are going to want to repeat the task. There’s a difference in doing this job with a pristine undercarriage vs one that’s coated with crud. Things wont be as visible.

Personally, I don’t want to keep having to spend my time and money. I’d rather pay upfront for a complete and quality job than have to half-ass it year after year.

Your undercarriage should be ready to go if you do the job very shortly after you take delivery. If you want to be extra sure it’s nice and clean and have a pressure washer there are wheeled undercarriage sprayer attachments available on Amazon to get under there and hose it down. That’s what I did. Just let it dry for a day or two then go at it with the Cosmoline.

Check out the links in my previous posts. There are other links that point to the Chemicar site and cosmolinedirect.com for the materials & equipment.

FYI high content carbon actually means more prone to rust but yields a stronger alloy.

Just get undercoating by Krown or similar once or twice a year and forget about it. It's not rocket science.

Not sure how effective this may be, but I've heard of people adding a simple jar of ordinary cinnamon spice to Fluid Film to minimize the odors.

I prefer Hai Karate to fend off both the stench and rust.

Be careful how you use it.

I just found that WoolWax has a dealership in the area. I haven't heard much about that one here. Are there any cheerleaders among y'all for that one?

And I do sorta wonder with BossWax in the game, are they any way similar? And if so how does WoolWax need annual application, and BossWas is marketed as a one time forever job, and warrantied too. I guess I will learn some once I can get some of these folks on the phone tomorrow.

And I say y'all whenever I can, cause I was born and growed up in Etlanna (the proper pronunciation for Atlanta). I don't ever hear it here in NH, so I'm taking the opportunity

Oh man! And Marietta was Meretta, or even Mretta, not Mary-Etta. (At least for my grandmother, who was from Albama.) :)
