    Morning all:

    Go Chief's! :D
May the best team win, hopefully nothing effects the outcome of the game like the late hit on Maholmes did, KC got the game handed to them when that happened. Thought for sure the game was going into OT, would have been a lot more interesting if it would have gone into OT, which then KC might or might not have won.

Before I put my new electric water heater in I replaced the original plastic drain with a threaded copper nipple and a ball valve with a garden hose fitting on the end.

This really moves some volume out of the heater compared to the plastic valves. Using a short length of hose I blow the water into a pail until clear about once a month.

Just for piece of mind I keep a cap on the hose fitting when not in use.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Happy Super Bowl Day!:argue: Here's hoping for a great game.
All 10 bags spread around the front yesterday. Going to have to get more this week for the back. One of the new little TVs got video sick, and I can't make the picture all fit inside anymore - have an appointment to drop it off for the Geeks at Best Buy. Protection was so cheap, I couldn't say no, and now I'm very glad! Even though it was a cheap TV.

    Response from Jim:

I was in Adak Alaska on the Aleutian island chain. I was in squadron VP9.
We flew the P3 Orions. My first time was in 1967 for a few months of winter. The second time was in1970 for 6 months.
In the interem I spent 6 months in Viet Nam. I shuffled back a forth to AMD repair facility in Moffet Field between deployments as well as traveled to the Philipines, Okanawa,Guam,Japan,England,Ireland (for a NATO conference about ASW) ,Denmark,Hawaii.
I was a partime flight crew operating various Antisubmarine tracking equipment. My last assignment was repairing most of the electronic equipment that was sent to me in AMD facility in Adak. I repaired a wide variety of the sysems used in the P3.
Mustered out as an ASW PO 2nd class in October 1970.

We worked together from '83 to '86 at National Semiconductor in Santa Clara (not far from Moffett Field). Analog test instruments went crazy a few times a week; one of my coworkers commented, "Speedbird about ready to land," so we would run outside. Massive RV dump of data before they landed; in case something happened, they still had data. We'd all run outside, and the SR71 was getting low to land.

Had to look up Adak Alaska (southern island of Aleutian Islands):

Adak has a subpolar oceanic climate (Cfc), characterized by persistently overcast skies, moderated temperatures, high winds, significant precipitation and frequent cyclonic storms. Winter squalls produce wind gusts in excess of 100 knots (120 mph; 190 km/h). During the summer, extensive fog forms over the Bering Sea and North Pacific. Average temperatures range from 20 to 60 °F (−7 to 16 °C), but wind chill factors can be severe. Average annual precipitation is 65.6 inches (1,670 mm) annually, concentrated markedly in fall and winter. December is the wettest single month on average, while June and July are markedly the driest months, with thunderstorms virtually unknown here. Snowfall averages nearly 100 inches (250 cm) per winter season, which however tends to melt soon after falling. With 263 rainy days per year, Adak has the second highest number of any inhabited locality in the United States after Hilo, Hawaii.

Pretty close to what Jim explained when he was there (lots of rain, overcast, interesting times flying. The biggest issue was top brass wanting to keep rank by having so many fly days per year, and not being instrument proficient, the guys flying daily were fine, but it was white knuckles when a desk jockey showed up).

60 and heart seems good. Drug an ice shanty 1/2 mile up a trail to a small lake today. I figured if I was due for a heart attack, this would do it. I went completely around the lake and back down the hill to the truck for a 4-5 mile trip with no fishies.

Yeah, I came home and took a nap.

Yes it did happen. Guy was getting a crown done at his dentist and she somehow let it go of it. Instead of the patient swallowing he must of taken a deep breath and right into his right main stem bronchus happens more than people realize. I have another good one I can post if you want.

    Evening all:
Just started watching the super bowl, not impressed with the pre-game renditions at all :puke:and went to another channel until they were over. Oh, oh, where's the Kansas City defense, they better do better than they did on the Eagles first drive for a TD, they made it look easy!

Don't keep us hanging, must be a good one! :)

About 60-68 I was good for that, then I went to crap fast! :( Sorry to hear no fishies, been there done that, including the nap! :)
What fishies are you targeting ?

Ok here we go. No pics of it coming out because we did it with a flexible scope . Had to be careful pulling it up though the vocal cords.

Amazing what unsuspected things can happen while doing something as normal as going to a dentist.

Was just reading about people finding razor blades taped to, or inserted in, the rubber/plastic of gas station pump nozzle handles, first time I heard that. Geez, now should check for card readers and razor blades before pumping gas!

OK, back to the game, not looking too good for the Chiefs!

UPDATE: The Chiefs pulled it off!
Even though I am a Chiefs fan, I didn't like that late in the game call against the Eagles for pass interference, IMO it was borderline and not that blatant, and they should have just let them play.

Thanks for the update from your friend Jim-appreciate the background info. I was about 10-15 years later in my Navy career. I was east coast Atlantic and Mediterranean deployed to Iceland, Azores, Spain with numerous detachments in the P3C U2.5. Follow on exchange tour to the Canadian Forces as a tactics instructor on the CP-140 Aurora. Went selected reserves after that with VP-94 out of NAS New Orleans where I was on the crew that flew the last operational mission on the P3B.

Agree, it was a pretty cheesy call at that point. But, it was illegal contact on the block, and the penalty would have been the same, and not looked so bad.
Good game - tale of two halves for sure!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!! Bad call at the end but that stuff happens. The Eagles Defense left at half time - that's what cost then the game.
