Balancing Beads...

Anybody here have any experience with balancing beads?? Do they work, or are they a pain???

Hit, or miss. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. That's my experience,

 

I tried ‘‘em couldn’t get ‘em to ever balance out. It seems like my truck wasn’t heavy enough

 

They fix cheap shitty tires. Not good tires and wheels.

Been using them on 40” and bigger offroad tires for 25 years. I use air soft bbs. You will find various scenarios(hard breaking, hard turns,etc) that moves the mass of bbs and cause a sever vibration till they settle back in the light spot. It’s very soothing when you pull up to a stop light and the cascade of bbs falls to the bottom of your tires. Almost like a nice little waterfall white noise machine.

I’ve run them with my bead locks and 37x12.50’s and now 38x13.5’s.

At less than say 15mph I can tell they aren’t balanced but anything above that is fine. 80-90mph perfectly smooth ride.

I’d have to check my Amazon order but I think I have 10oz in each tire.

 

Are you talking about on a daily driver??

 

There seems to be completely opposite opinions, those who have had good results...can you post on how much weight you've used, and tire size?

Seems to be that folks with narrow tires, (motorcycle, 255's) seem to be getting the best results, judging by the language they used in their comments.

Wondering now if the amount of tire weight like 35's x 12.50 and up aren't so successful unless you use more weight than recommended by the bead site I was looking at...

 

Generally go by tire size for correct amount of oz. beads per tire. All tires, of the same size don't weigh the same, I'm sure a little adjustment may be needed.... That said, I've done a lot of research on these beads and it's amazing what I've seem. Also found the exact same results while researching the Throttle controllers... Both cases appx. 80% to 90% of the people who "HAVE TRIED THEM" liked them. The people who don't like them are almost always the people who "HAVE NOT TRIED THEM".. They're not going to try them because they already know they won't work.... I have both a throttle controller and balancing beads and both work great for me.

 

I let a guy at a shop here locally bullshit me into using beads in my new Coopers when I first got them. They didn't work for me. Until I got up to highway speed, they shook like a wet dog. I went back to the traditional method, and am a happy camper.

 

My tire package from TrailBuilt Offroad came with balance beads. Tires shook like crazy. I thought that maybe there wasn't enough. I added more by slightly breaking the bead and injecting more. Still no good. Ultimately took the tires off the wheel after 1000 miles of hell. I found the bag the beads came in still intact and the majority of the beads still inside. My guess is that the bag (design to break up but never did) was causing clumping issues. I didn't want to risk beads again so I took the tires to Les Schwab and got a road force balance. Nice and smooth now. I might do beads in the future but only if I add them and not via the bag method.
