How to make audio default to USB?

Every time I get in my Taco, the audio defaults to FM Radio. So, I have to jump thru several screens every time to get to USB. Is there a default setting that can make USB the default every time I start up the audio?

 

For me, if I am using the USB port to play music and shut the truck off, when I start the truck, it resumes where it left off.

 

Mine defaults to no source selected. I had hoped that reordering the sources would solve this.

Hoping we find an answer. Last year, I ripped all of my favorite CDs in WAV to a portable player and USB drives. It is nice listening to music of my own choice!

 

In order to have it default to USB, it needs to be the last thing selected before shutoff, and there needs to be something plugged in and powered up when you start the truck. If nothing is connected, it won't consider the USB input at all.

 

The USB is the source I was using when I shut the truck off. When you say something needs to be plugged in and powered up, does this mean that the audio system will start from the USB input for a player, but not a USB drive?

 

Mine always starts with USB. I keep all my music on a flash drive that always stays plugged into the USB port. Songs pick up just where they left off when I shut the truck off. I don't turn off the radio before turning off the truck.

Could the difference be with how the files on the USB are formatted? MP3 vs. WAV? iTunes? Etc?

 

No, it should should work with a drive. Are you using a flash drive that is at least UBS 2.0? Speed of drive reading might be a factor.

That's what I use, except the 64gb version. MP3 files. The HU may have a limit on the flash drive capacity, I don't know. I do believe there is a limit of 9999 files, so 256gb may be overkill anyway.
What year is your truck?

 

Not sure then. The only thing I would suggest is trying a few different flash drives. I've had some that read just fine on startup and some that didn't, and I'm not sure entirely what the factors were. I thought my issue was drive speed related, but I don't know that for certain.

I have a 2020. I checked the USB drive - I have 183 gigs on it, 6,058 files. Given what the manual quote says (thanks!), it may be the difference between MP3 and WAV that prevents my system from starting up automatically.


EDIT: I tried it with a USB drive with MP3s, and it started automatically. At least in my case, it seems to be an issue of WAV vs MP3.

 

I'm the same way with FLAC files... Does not remember the source (USB) but once chosen DOES remember exactly where it was mid-song when shut off. Drives me a little crazy.
