Keep us updated for sure. Of course i don't have an automatic so that doesn't apply to me. I do have a pedal commander which helps but curious what else these tunes will do and benefit for the manual transmission also

We're actively working to get a 3G and 2G 2.7L on the dyno. We'll be happy to talk more in detail about how that can benefit even the Manual trucks once we have data we can share.

any noticeable or small improvement to the torque? not expecting much but even 5ft/lbs would be nice...

The way it shifts and holds the gear under load makes it feel like it has more grunt but it’s still just as slow. I have an LCE header if you’re looking for a little more that’s a great mod for the 2.7.

I have the header installed and it made a big difference for me. Gave it just enough power to stop downshifting on some hills which made for a way more comfortable ride. Got me thinking if there will be a tune version that accounts for the header upgrade.

More umph is coming. How much is TBD at this point. But we'll find what's there..

That'll come with the final release once we have the dyno to show.

I felt the same about the header helped a little to prevent downshifting. Tune did way more for how the truck drives than the header

I promise you, we're ready. We've had a hell of a time finding folks with 2.7's in UT, and even fewer who care about tuning their truck. We've had a few interested parties but all have been with 2019's.

As things stand (until further notice), ANYONE with a supported 3rd Gen 2.7, or 2nd Gen 2.7L Manual willing to meet at our dyno facility in SLC, UT will receive a custom dyno tune at no cost to them. Free tune & Free dyno session.

We'll bring you guys the numbers, that's an OTT promise.

I bet they’re hard to find. 2.7 gotta be a real dog at altitude. When I moved to salt lake ( not there anymore) my suburban was shipped there. The day I picked it up the density altitude was around 8000 feet. Didn’t get out of the parking lot before thinking “what the hell happened to this thing ?” Not sure about automotive engines in those conditions, but most normally aspirated aircraft engines won’t make more than 65-70 % of full rated power. Once thought I was gonna have to make the wife get off our Harley and walk the rest of the way up to snowbird on a summer day.

Just read that again , are the only extra benefits to be had with a newer tune version pertaining only to manual transmission?

Yeah air is a little thin up here. Not so bad in the winter when we have temperature on our side. However, in the summer the heat and elevation really does a number on the DA.

We standardize all of our published numbers to SAE J1349 standards. All corrected to reference conditions of 29.23 InHg (99 kPa) of dry air and 77 F (25°C). We can see ~14% in some instances down to 4-5% on cooler days.

The auto's get a little more bang for their buck with the transmission tuning, but the engine calibration and actual output will be the same between manual and auto trucks that we do. If my comment about the manual transmission 2G request threw you off, it's because we do not have access to the 2G 2.7's at this time. We would be unable to load a "gear lock" tune on them to perform a full RPM sweep dyno run to show the effects of the tune from 2K-redline. So for that particular platform we are looking specifically for a manual vehicle.

Getting my 2020 tuned next Friday, thought I was going to have to drive a couple hours to get it done but TK-421 tuning will be in my area next week. Will report back with results

Really wish you guys were closer to me. Big Turtle Tuning here near Spokane does tuning for OTT but i'm skeptical till i see some real stats and reviews. I'd be willing to be a test too. I'm a 2.7l manual transmission with 285-70-17 and no header. Stock drive train and engine.

    Don't blame you!

We're waiting for the 3G 2.7L Manual Cal's to be supported. I promise; as soon as we can, we'll get the numbers published.

Got my 2020 done a few days ago. Throttle response is ok, still shifts like crap. I am by no means bashing the tune or tuner, might just need to be tweaked a little or maybe my expectations were too high
