Yep. For me this is my first vehicle with driving aids so I am just used to die if that way. I never remember to turn that knob and set the terrain type either.

you’ll like using the crawl system when you really need it. We have some really steep mine roads that are rough with stair step cuts covered with lose rock and dirt on them. It’s impossible to not spin the wheels when trying to climb it, even with lockers on. Crawl changes all that. It’s slow but dang, turns the truck into a big horn sheep.

Just watch for smoke so you don’t stall out on a steep hill when the oil pools up the top of the valves! …another issue with our delicate trucks!:annoyed:

I need to try it again. The time I did use it it was somewhere that definitely didn’t need it.

    I cut my teeth off-roading 2wd Toyotas.

Have a TRD Off-road now with the crawl control. I’ve played with it, but I don’t use it.

For reference, my stomping grounds are Big Bear and local so cal deserts.

As other have suggested, Money would be better spent on a locker and tires.

I am a manual pleb so cannot confirm, but I have heard it is sort of gimmicky. You're better off spending the money on a good quality rear locker.

I'd just get a rear locker, you'll get 99% of the performance of an OR. I have an OR and have never used crawl, occasionally I will use MTS in its most aggressive setting as I feel like it does a pretty good job of simulating being duel locked, I use my e-locker all the time.

Worked well on Gold Mtn, John Bull, and Holcomb in snow as well.

And wheeling in 2wd? A friend of mine and I did the entire length through Pinto Basin and Gold Crown Rd in a 2wd Vista Cruiser station wagon back in ‘79, that was fun. His dad sold it after our trip though.

Just to add one thing not yet mentioned; I do not believe the dealer would program the extra module(s) necessary to install CRAWL on a truck that did not come equipped with it. So, NO Crawl cannot be installed.

As already mentioned, good driver technique, airing down tires, traction aids and lockers could suffice the OP.
