I was negotiating last week, A dealer has an incoming March/ April. Added $250 in dealer fees for a Anti-theft coverage. They won’t remove it, because Toyota canada now allows them to add up to $1221 in dealer fees which is on the Toyota.ca. Straight up my room for negotiation is limited. So I did put down a $500 deposit. They were telling me we can add more accessories and charge but will just want to sell every vehicle coming in March/April and get more allocation.

Just curious as I have never bought a new vehicle before, around the end of September I placed an order for a 23 OR Premium in lunar rock, dealer called me and said I should be receiving it sometime early March. Anything I need to know before going to the dealer? I got it for MSRP so I am assuming I don't have much wiggle room in negotiation?

As far as I know, you get no deal until the truck shows and you sign the contract. Then you’ll know the real price.

HMMM...thats not how it worked for me. I ordered mine in March 2021 and we negotiated the price up front, I gave my deposit and there was no price change when it arrived by either side (and it was on time I might add). They told me it would be 3 months and it was right on time.

I was told that they are not able to agree to a price upfront and that the agreed price is whatever the MSRP is when the truck comes in. No adjustments or anything.

That goes along what I understood too. Ordered a 21 in 21, got a 22 in 22 and paid the 22 price. They still respected their part of the deal (MSRP and $1,500 rebate on the accessories I picked). But they didn’t have to.

Yeah I feel pretty confident they will honour it. I more mean new car stuff for someone who has never bought one. Like extended warranty for instance, do they have wiggle room on price?

Toyota canada and USA won’t lock in the price for more the three months. My first deposit was June 2022 for MSRP with no dealer fees. But they called once the allocations for the 22s was over that the Likely getting a 23 with new MSRP. It all depends on a dealership and their profit margin

By the way I have since put down a second deposit with another dealership who have an allocation for 2023 MSRP with a dealer fee of $250 for March. Strange thing is the two dealerships are under 50km apart and one get the same truck I ordered while my dealership is still waiting on an allocation.

It does depend on the dealer like you mentioned. If mine got the allocation for the '22 I would have received it for the negotiated price, interest, and warranty price. However, since they couldn't get the '22 and received a '23 they had to go by the MSRP for the '23. The dealer was good enough not add the $1200+ dealer fee, as well as, give me a lower interest rate from months prior (the furthest back they could go) and gave me the '22 warranty price.

I put a deposit down on October 2022 and my dealership (located in Vancouver Canada) emailed me on Dec 19 informing me that he got me an allocation for the 2023 TE Lunar Rock (screen shot showing VTN number) and was currently in production on the day he emailed and the ETA is next month… Up until late last week he emailed again saying the truck is still in production. Just wondering if anyone has any idea on when I should expect to hear back with the status change to “in transit” and if all goes well during transit, how long will it take to get to the dealership? Would there be a chance I could see it in May instead...? I know it’s only been 5months.. but the wait is killing me, lol. TIA!

Pretty much the same for me. Sat down with the dealer in October of 21 and picked the truck and accessories I wanted. Negotiated the price/trade and put down a deposit and the truck was ordered. Said it would probably be 3-6 months but count on closer to 6. Got a call early December saying one of their allocations was the exact truck I ordered so they put my name on it. Took delivery at the end of January and the only thing that changed on the deal was I got a lower interest rate.

I maybe wrong, but if within 3months the price is locked in after that you pay the current value and rate? Otherwise depends mostly on a dealership if they will keep the same price for more than 3 months

The next few months will be interesting, will people trade in their 3rd Gen and will used prices drop or the other way round. I think a lot of people are on the fence with the new Tacoma because of the Tundra.
