Tundra does have the electronic parking brake. I would expect Tacoma to follow.

Corolla GR has a hand brake, I don't think Corolla is a TNG platform, or it was the 1st TNG Toyota. Corolla sedan has an electronic parking brake, not sure about the standard HB. I always thought it was electronic, maybe with the exception of the manual wich has been discontinued except on the GR. I'd still like to see a 3cyl turbo Tacoma.

6g Ranger is getting an electronic parking brake, 14g F-150 already has it. New SD might also get the electronic brake. Looks like Bronco already has the electronic brake. All fullsize GM trucks have it, and the new midsize probably does.

TRD Pro Tacoma might be the only manual Tacoma available, with or with out a cable operated parking brake. Fully optioned it will probably MSRP just shy of 70k before market adjustments. I expect the exclusive color to be close to Ford's avalanche gray, or azure gray metallic.

Why would the hybrid only be used to generate more power - and not also be used for better MPG? The Tundra only gets 7mpg better as hybrid? I feel like they aren't even trying.

    What am I missing here?

With the universal platform being implemented I would expect most of the basic features to be the same for the sake of easy manufacturing. The manual transmission and cable brake are probably dead in the next gen.

You can shutoff the head unit. I do it all the time driving at night.

Because Swears wanted a diesel for the Tundra, and corporate shot it down because diesel is going the way of the Dodo (though scientists are trying to bring the Dodo back) Going hybrid was one way of getting the torque lower in the RPM range that is similar to diesel. Bumps up the mpg a smidge, unfortunately not as good as the oil burners, the GM 1/2 tons can easily fetch over 30mpg.

    Most likely.

I don't know if Hybrid is worth the additional power whether it be an iForce Max or a Powerboost, Powerboost seems to get better milage on top of the extra power, and you can add the inverter.

I could see going for the Hybrid if you need the power, or if that's the only option which happens to be the case with TRD Pro TT.

The Tundra Hybrid only gets like 1 or 2 MPG overall bump.

I think the Tundra hybrid electric motor shuts down about 10 MPH before the F150 Powerboost does. That’s likely the difference in fuel economy. The the new Tacoma hybrid can keep electric only to 30 mph the fuel economy gains will be significant and worth owning for urban dwellers.

The E210 Corolla is TNGA-C platform and comes with or without an electric parking brake, depending on market, model, transmission, and package options.

Many TNGA-B cars also still use a mechanical parking brake.

People are really focused on what type of parking brake the 24 is going to have? LOL. I'm more concerned with the glove box - hopefully shit doesn't fall out when you open it lol.

I could see the parking brake be a big deal in a car. I had a 21 Corolla hatchback with the electric parking brake. Would have liked a pull style. But why does it matter in the truck are people rallying drifting this thing.

More like they're trying to save money. The battery in the Tundra hybrid is nickel metal hydride, not lithium ion (i.e. old Prius technology). NiMH is very robust but has way less useable capacity - about the same as two Northstar lead acid batteries. Like the old Prius, the electric system is just there to provide torque fill at low rpms.

According to the Car Care Nut, the electronic parking brake is quite reliable in the existing Toyota/Lexus models. I'm sure that'll change if you submerge the calipers in water often, like we see with the ADD actuator and 2nd gen rear locker actuator.

The Toyota electric parking brake system is relatively robust, compared to some other brands. To be honest I would expect less issues with it than the ADD actuators. It gets used more often, is sealed better, and likely received more engineering time as a result of being part of a safety system.

But we’ll see I suppose. I’ve seen plenty of people with seized or ineffective mechanical parking brakes, it’s possible the electric will actually have fewer issues. Plus with it being on the caliper, there’s less chance of water intrusion compared to drum-in-hat designs.

There are pros and cons to both. I still prefer a handbrake, but I understand the reasons for electric too.

The just announced Grand Highlander is TSS 3.0. I think it will be on a brand new truck as well.
