I switched from the hard aluminum cases to Mosko Moto soft bags, they feel better in the winds on the highway, and don't tear or get damaged when you drop the bike. The one downfall to soft bags is if you have anything that is not soft in them, Jetboil, Aeropress (coffee maker) or other plastic or thin metal object, they will get damaged. I broke my Aeropress 5 days into an 11 day trip, and bent my nice Jetboil on a fall riding up Buck Ridge near Big Sky, Montana last year.

I would probably get aluminum for street use and soft bags for ADV'ing. I like the security of the hard cases. Seems like it would be easy to slash the soft bags with a knife.

I used to think the same thing, but I also have never lived in the city, or very close to a big city where the lockable storage was an issue. The multiple layers of the soft luggage would be very difficult to cut through. If you were to commute by motorcycle into the city, the hard cases would make sense, my riding is entirely for pleasure, so I don't travel anywhere near the big cities where that sort of security would be an issue. Now, the hard cases are nice if you are camping in bear country but we usually carry a small bear proof hiking container.

pretty sure those older zumas are 2 strokes
def a good bit cheaper to hop up a 2stroke in order to reach 50mph than a 4t scooter

perhaps it was 50 going down hill with a tail wind

doesnt exactly look like a 2stroke pipe though so idk, rear tire isnt original either

Yeah, probably a 2t, but like you said doesn't look like a 2t pipe. My old Aprilia Rally 50 with a leo vince pipe had a hard time going over 45 with all restrictors removed.

yea those XRs hold value, from the one pic though it seems to be in a much better condition than 80% of the XRs out there
Did you ever mess with the cvt weights?
I wanted an sr50 so bad growing up
    Love me a scooter :bananadance:

I regret selling it, I see it around town every once in a while and I feel so bad for it, it's been left out and rusted and just in awful shape.

Never messed with the weights and I should have, it was definitely off, I remember it bogging down at weird points which knowing what I know now could be fixed. I knew practically nothing about bikes or cars at that point in my life. Honestly pulling out the restrictors was probably what started me down this horribly horribly expensive road

Yeah… it seems like it has low hours as well. He just spent $400 getting it tuned up. :annoyed: Tempted to call him back and offer $1200 but he will probably get $1350 for it

Couldn't agree more. You are better than me I wouldn't even respond to the dealer if I received that first quote. I would have told them to pound sand and went to another dealer.

The original Groms came with the high pipes, FMF made a full exhaust for them. Would probably work on the new ones since the engine is the same. Just not sure about the mounts.

I am too paranoid to trust soft panniers for anything, then again I used to ride and park in SF which is just asking for trouble.

Yeah, I live in SLC which has a "bad area" better than most "decent" areas in most big cities, and I'm still paranoid about non-lockable/unsecured cases on both truck and bike.
