The Les Paul-style Epiphone right next to me is my dad's, and I believe my dad's Suzuki acoustic is in there too, but the rest of those guitars and basses belong to my friends...

Just got into a huge argument with my parents because the doctor's office wants me to wear a mask, and I refuse to wear one; I tested negative for COVID...

I feeling making me wear a mask when I tested negative for COVID is disrespectful of my autism-related sensory issues. That's the biggest issue that I have; I just fucking hate wearing anything short of a painting respirator for long periods of time.

And then even though I've tested negative four times in the last week, I have to take another COVID test in the truck the before they let me in the office...

    :annoyed:

And also, let's face it; I've never much cared for authority or bureaucracy.

My best friend John has a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe that he bought certified preowned with like 4,000 miles on it near the end of 2019. John is a certified peer mentor who works with special needs clients and drives A LOT for work. It's almost all highway mileage and he is very meticulous about maintenance, but the Hyundai has about 70K miles.

The transmission is going out, and thankfully it is covered under Hyundai's 100K-mile warranty. The new transmission is on backorder, and luckily John's car is able to be driven in the meantime. The problem with the Hyundai is that models older than 2020 have a single-clutch 6-speed transmission, and just the dealer where John bought his Santa Fe has done tranny replacements on probably six of them.

2020-present has dual-clutch; John inquired about putting in a dual-clutch, but Hyundai says the car's ECU won't allow it or something. He has been offered $18K by the dealer as-is, and is considering paying the difference on a newer Santa Fe with the improved transmission.

He might be better off getting the newer one as it sounds like that old style transmission has issues and will probably occur again in the future.

The Hyundai dealer said it likely will happen again, and next time it does he will be way out of warranty and on the hook for it himself...

That was what l was figuring too, seems like just getting the new one is a better decision.

Either have them fix it, then sell. Or just trade it in.

But might consider a non Hyundai if his transmission is shot at 70k miles.

I have bronchitis, it's almost gone, and my doctor put me on an antibiotic called Zithromax for five days.

I've been pestering him to buy a Toyota for years. His first car was a 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight LS that he bought from the original owner in 2005 with only 60K miles, for $1,500. The Oldsmobile proved to be very reliable, but it just got old and had over 150K miles.

He traded it for a 2006 Nissan Maxima SL in 2010, and drove that for six years. The Maxima had like 165K miles on it when he traded it for a 2013 Nissan Altima in 2016.

The Altima started having issues with the CVT, and he traded the Altima for the Hyundai he has now in 2019. The Altima had like 93K miles on it.

Zithromax Commonly called a Z-Pac. Usually knocks the heck out of what is ailing you.

It is probably not a fair or accurate statement.
I think of Kia and Hyundai as “Knock-off” Hondas.

I’d spend a little more money and get a Honda or Toyota.
