You really think a '24 Tacoma TRD Pro is going to sticker for just shy of $70k?

1st- Toyota uses both styles of batteries; depends on where the vehicle is made and intended use. It's not due to it being an "old" system. Canadian built RAV4 Hybrids are nickel; American are lithium. Nickel is heavier, yes, but performs MUCH better in cold climates than lithium.
2st- The Tundra uses a hybrid system for performance; not to save on battery life. You ever drive a hybrid? The things are extremally capable. Very fast acceleration; especially on highways speeds when passing. My little RAV4 rips and is much more fun to drive than my Tacoma to be honest. Because tree huggers don't want V8's, Toyota put in turbo's and electric motors to get similar or better performance.

I hope to see the Tacoma Hyrbid avg. 30mpg. I'll be first in line.

 

If it happens I think some folks won't be too happy. There is a lot of features loaded onto 3.0. DRCC seems to be getting a decent upgrade tho to provide a better experience for adjusting to other cars speed. Not so abrupt.

Prob 55 before add ons so with a few accessories and destination charges it’ll be just under 60(59) if I had to guess.

 

Well let's just define a target so that nobody can move it. MSRP plus destination is the price you can purchase a vehicle for at any reasonable dealership. We're not talking accessories, mop 'n glow, etc. $51,225 is what a base automatic Pro costs now- MSRP plus delivery. I'd be shocked if the '24 Pro automatic costs more than $55,000. I'd even be willing to place a friendly wager on it. Were you the guy who wouldn't wager on it a few months ago?

Either way, let's stop throwing around wild numbers for the sake of internet drama. It's not gonna sticker for $60,000.

 

You do realize the base price of a 2021 TRD Pro Tundra was $54995 and then jumped to $69420 for 2022.

 

We're not talking about Tundras.

 

And why would Toyota do anything different pricing wise? It’s an all new Tacoma, the new GMC Canyon AT4X starts at $55,500. Wanna bet the new TRD PRO Taco sits right there. You’re kidding yourself if you think it’s only gonna be a $1-2k difference in pricing as an all new gen competing with new market competition trucks and the way prices are going in the segment.

 

I'm saying that the '24 TRD Pro with an automatic transmission won't cost $60,000. My guess is more like $54-56. Would you like to make a friendly wager on it?

I don't have a reading problem. You're the one who jumped into a conversation I was having with other people. One claimed 70, one claimed 60. And now you're acting like I claimed a modest $1-2k increase, which I never did. Edit to add- you did not say that the Tacoma would be 55-57, you said what the current GM truck costs.

If a PRO is over 55K they can keep them.

 

Toyota knows exactly what it will charge because they already have the customers who will gladly pay the amount Toyota sets.

 

The Tundra hybrid only gets 1-2 MPGs over the non hybrid.
