    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Right on! Let's make sure and at the very least have a hard meet up spot for the group on Wed or Thurs night... Even something like meet up at Gate 1, or 4 or the Ultra 4 swag booth.

Darian was also in the race. You can't accept outside assistance, but accepting assistance from another racer is legal.

Darian was pulling rope for a lot of people because he was broke down... so he just stayed and helped people through.

I saw your rig a few times but didn't get the chance to say hello. Got to meet up with some TW members and always enjoy the event but didn't get to see everyone. Always next year! It's difficult to coordinate on the Lakebed with the poor service so having a designated spot at a specific time would be ideal or at least a pre-determined HAM channel to coordinate.

Thanks again for the tacos on Thursday @dwphoto! :taco:

Next year we'll plan a TW meet up. It would fun to circle up the trucks for beers and food later in the week sometime.

We hit choco and backdoor every night (except for the night we were hit with 50+ mph winds) and this was the standard shenanigans

They need some more trashcans in the spectator areas up at choco. Even if they just tied black trash bags to posts and left a dumpster at the bottom I think it would help.

Not saying there isn't a problem... at all.

    But hear me out.

How do we know dude isn't posting this for views and attention? Because sure, there is probably garbage left over from having 120,000 people in one spot, in the middle of no where, for a week. But we went almost all the way to the top of Chocolate Thunder on Sunday, and I was actually surprised at how little garbage was up there.

Obviously, there are always people that don't give a shit. It happens at a lot of our favorite camp sites. It's unfortunate. Maybe we need more people to stay an extra day and help clean up. Maybe try and get more Clubs to make that part of their trip... I don't know. Aside from shooting people when we see them leaving their trash, I really don't know a good, all encompassing, answer.

No, like I said in the video... the place was a shit show both days after I personally helped to clean up the areas. There was something like 20 trash bags of trash on both days I was involved and that was just on the parking side of backdoor and Chocolate thunder not even in the rocks

Not sure if you were there Sunday after they went through and cleaned it again or what. But Something needs to change.

I don’t remember them having the tread lightly trash at Choco or back door last year so I feel that was a step in the right direction. I know we used them a lot this year. But I know there is an overwhelming amount of people at both spots every night for the shit show. Unfortunately I don’t know that having a big dumpster at each location would change drunken idiots from leaving their trash and beer cans which is sad.

For us this year staying in the pit area it was clear that there needs to be a dumpster and more trash cans in the pits and or around the hammertown area. Someone on our crew said there was a big dumpster for people during the week between motos and the tt races. But that was gone by the time I got there

For sure. It needs to change everywhere though. I think KOH is going to be at a greater magnitude than anywhere else though, due to the numbers.

As far as KOH specific. Greg makes an excellent point. There needs to be more trash receptacles everywhere. I think, generally, people would rather throw stuff away correctly, but lack of places to do that people become feral lol.

Also, again, maybe if they make it well known that they are asking for people to help after, on Sunday and even Monday. I think a lot of people assume Ultra4 has a clean up crew that does it for them. Maybe have a sign up for Clubs that want to volunteer time after, with incentive of a KOH Volunteer t-shirt for club members helping.

Also, not trying to take the blame off of assholes that don't know what to do with their trash. But the surrounding communities are very poor. Maybe Ultra4 could employ more of them as clean up DURING the event. The less trash people see during the event, the less likely they are to leave their trash. Ultra4 employs a lot of locals for most of the Gate Security and clean up... but wow... they really aren't treated all that well. 12 hours shifts, they really don't get breaks, or drinks.

Along with the trash problem... in the future... everyone... When you're walking in to the gate, ask that person checking your bracelet if they need anything? We did. Some of those people had been standing there for 10 hours, or more, and hadn't even been checked on.

There were a couple of trash cans at Chocolate Thunder. I actually used them a few times. Problem with unattended trash cans is when the wind kicks up. Can almost create more problems than solutions.

All valid points. There really needs to be a shift in the culture. KOH is obviously a huge issue because it attracts such a large amount of people but you can go to any "secluded" spot now a days and there is trash. It's really sad. I'm not sure if its a demographic issue, a drunk issue, both?

At the end of the day there needs to be a much bigger push for the cleanups. I talked to a lot of people who weren't even aware there was a cleanup going on. There needs to be more marketing support and it would be great to see more industry leaders get involved.

We showed up a few days to the cleanup but there surprisingly wasn't that much trash in the spectator areas. The real issue, IMO, is the remaining trash from the nighttime shenanigans that you can't access with a live race course. We were at the Backdoor spectator area and could see piles of trash on the race course but out of reach.

Man... I'd really like to be part of that event. But 6 hours away is not local. I would be TOTALLY down to start planning, in the future, to stay an extra day or even 2 though.
