My bad on the power. I had it flipped in my brain. Thought the TransAlp was at 75 and the T7 was at 90-100.

I'm in no way suggesting it won't be a good bike, or that there won't be buyers. I just think it'll get the same complaints the CB500X does from the ADV segment of the community. It'd be a fine bike for me as well, as I'll be way more paved than unpaved and no interest in technical stuff. The only think that gets me is the look. Something just looks off to my eye, and I can't put my finger on it.

That last pic that was posted a couple pages ago gave me the same kind of huh, somethings off but I odn't know what feeling. It's almost like it looks like it's already squatted at the bottom of it's suspension and should be a bit higher or something.

Not sure I know the pic you are referencing. I haven't followed this thread very well. Only one's I've seen are the snips from vids and such, and they are all white.

For one thing, I think white doesn't do it any favors. Bit of google and I found this black pic, and I think it helps.

Compare it to the AT below, and you can see some resemblence at first glance, but I think you are right about looking low. Comparing it to the AT I think it's the different angle on the exhaust/muffler. It's got a lower angle and seems lazier, whereas the AT's is a hard upward angle that feels more aggressive. The TransAlp's more squared off and expose pipes right behind the front wheel have the same kind of taming effect to the stance.

The TransAlp really does look like the lovechild of the AT and the CB500X. It they had kept the little beak from the 500X it'd be super similar.

    upload_2023-2-13_19-32-4.jpg

In my googling I stumbled on this and if they had done this with the TransAlp..... I don't think they'd be able to keep them in stock, but they'd lose all the road biased buyers. It's an AT enduro concept/mashup somebody did.

Good thing I like the looks of the Trans Alp, I guess. I found the Honda Pro Kevin video where he was guessing the MSRP to be $10.5k, and at that price I'm a definite buyer. That would probably come out to $14k OTD with panniers, quick shifter and center stand. Extra bonus points for having cruise control too.

Nope! Just crazy how he was even saying the AT doesn’t have enough power compared to the 1290’s.

Assuming dealers don't charge a massive markup, the white/gold colorway.

Interestingly the Honda UK site doesn't allow me to add both the panniers and top box kits, but it looks like fully specced out with quickshifter, heated grips, center stand, fog lights, engine guard and skid plate, luggage, etc, would come out to 14.5k pounds or $15k USD. I'd guess the bike would be closer to $17k OTD, which would still be $6-7k cheaper than an AT.

They are meant to be used. Just maybe by people that are smarter and don’t try to push on once the road turns to ice.

bmw motorbikes dont have the reputation they have for being expensive and cumbersome in terms of maintenance and replacement parts

dont judge a bike by a car, thats racist

Proof of concept complete, tablet, dongle, extension cord, and wireless CarPlay all work.
Just waiting on the power adapter that goes between the battery and gives a USB port that’s powered whenever voltage is over a certain threshold.

Also confirmed that I can play music to the tablet via CarPlay while in Drive Mode Dashboard 2.
Tomorrow I’ll try to get the helmet hooked to the tablet and see if I can patch audio through the tablet from the phone and into the helmet.

How is an AT 20k+? I paid 15 for mine out the door. I guess if you get all of the honda accessories and grandpa DCT it's closer but not 20k. The Adventure Sports AT has heated grips from factory, and cruise control. Do you really need a quick shifter if you get an automatic?

The pic in the first quote. I don't know if it's a weird render or what, it just looks wrong.. I just told my wife it looks porky

Depends on the part you're replacing, tbh. i've needed some expensive parts on my F800, but like, twice. Oil changes are sub-$50. Stator going out was about $250, heated grip replacement was about the same (it comes molded into the grips themselves, which is a PITA.) Otherwise going strong at 42,000 miles. I bought it at 24 or 26,000, I don't remember the exact mileage.

If you go with the Adventure it's a stout MSRP and then fees on top of it.

Quickshifter isn't available on a DCT AFAIK. And no, I would never get a DCT as long as I could operate a manual.

With luggage and crash protection the Adventure Sports is $21k before TTL and other "fees". I figure $23-24k OTD.

Yeah, I think the skid having to be so square for the pipes is part of it, but those big boxy paniers don't help at all.
