I'm not the expert but it sure looks like a Chevy 3100 "5-window" to me.

Chev "Advance-Design" truck. These were built between 1947-55. Our subject today was built between 1951-53 and the 3 rear windows mark it as a Deluxe Cab model, Chev marketed the feature as "Nu-Vue" windows.

Rusty... I've got a question for you. I have a 1978 Chevy long bed that I'm presently restoring. It has a wide bed but I'd prefer a stepside, and I haven't been able to verify if that year had long bed stepsides. If you'd care to share anything you know I'd appreciate it. If not '78, then did any of the squarebody years have long bed stepsides?

They made them for the "Square body" run 1973-87, almost all the ones I have seen were heavy GVW utility co/state/county/railroad trucks. I believe the intent was to limit overloading with gravel, etc since the step bed is smaller.

It looks like the bed sides are available at about $700/side in early (73-76) and late (77-87) series, everything to build a new box even.
As these are bolted together you could probably build your own between the new bed sides and some used parts from short beds.

Thanks... A long bed stepside may be scarce but I have plenty of time to look then. If I can't find one I could probably use an earlier year with '78 fenders. Eight foot stepsides seem pretty hard to find.

Look at the size of those stumps......
Edit, this is on the side of the road that goes up to our logging site. Unfortunately, the car went through the fire and there is nothing usable on it (yes, I went and checked).

Well, you could have taken a better picture...

General Motors introduced a new "fastback" style in 1941 and continued until 1952. They had a bit of an identity crises it seems being called Sedanet (Buick), Streamliner or Torpedo (Pontiac), Dynamic Cruiser (Oldsmobile) or Aerosedan (Chev).

The earlier models were more likely to have the chrome trim at the door handle level and the large chrome piece on the front fender matches this 1941 Buick below.

Very similar style to the PV444/544 but look at the trunk line, the Volvo was almost flat across. The GM cars had a much deeper stamping, also the rear window on the GM cars was so horizontal it was almost a skylight, must have been a challenge to back up.

That's some pretty serious anchors. The guy must have thought gravity would stop working.

Ya, I'm not sure what's going on. All I can figure is that it's pretty close to the water so maybe wind was a concern? Or he didn't want it to float away in a hurricane
