With prices of adventure bikes being so freaking expensive, transforming my Grom into one might be the only way I will have one.

The beak is growing on me :annoyed:

Don't get me wrong, it's not an ugly bike, but it just looks off to my eye. For a mostly street oriented rider I think it's going to be a kickass bike, though. I can't wait to see what Rally Raid does to it. If they can beef the suspension in a kit similarly priced to the one on the CB500X, then you could have a really solid midsize adventure bike like the T7, but with more power. It's not my cup of tea, as power isn't something I'm seeking, but I think it'd be a hot commodity. Just look at the love the CB500X gets once it's had the RR upgrades, and I think the transalp is a super similar platform, so long as it has the same kind of low end torque and smooth, linear torque/power curves. It'll be an ideal midsizer.

I still miss the Meso dirt Grom. I wonder where it ended up.

Idk.. id never buy accessories from the dealer. Always research and buy elsewhere. I got the rear OEM grab handle from Japan for $200 cheaper shipped (and 3 day delivery) rather than buying from the USA. Its where the part comes from anyways. And then the 2022+ now comes with it stock. Only 20-21 didn't come with it.

IMo, my "build" is way better than the factory options. I didn't get an extended warranty, and now its past due anyways.

I need to find an extra set of wheels, it’s just so much fun with grippy tires.

True, but I think factory luggage is always worth it. It seems to fit better than most aftermarket solutions. A lot of fancier bikes like BMWs have central locking nowadays.

I want to build one so bad (or a Monkey). The big hold up for me is the notorious SoCal markup on them. There's a few other factors, but luckily money isn't one of them so I can afford to wait and negotiate with the leverage of writing a check of the whole thing. There's only two Honda dealers within an hour and a half of me, so limited options there. I can't imagine the smaller independent shops that sell Honda around here having the ability to negotiate much.

Tell them you'll finance it if they knock off a chunk. Then pay it off in the first month. Lots of dealerships get extra money for setting up financing, so they are more friendly if you finance vs buy it with cash. At least for cars/trucks that's how it works.

Surprisingly it’s usually the smaller dealers that are the ones willing to negotiate more.
