Jerry got back to me tonight and everything was great. I decided on the 7year 125k mile warranty. Jerry said thank you for sending business his way

So what is the longest length one can obtain for warranty? So you receive three years from Yota which would be subtracted from the the extended warranty you purchase?

    None.
There’s no set price for an extended warranty. It’s a piece of paper and some extra icing on their cake. Negotiate!

I paid $1,360 for a 10yr/100k mile Toyota Platinum VSA. As you can tell from reading this thread there are a few dealerships online offering some rather aggressive pricing. Don't let your selling dealer rip you off.

This! I bought my truck last September and used the quotes I had from Jennifer and the finance representatives jaw literally dropped. To be fair, her rates weren’t high but Jennifer’s rates were so low. She said she could come close but couldn’t quite match it. Even if that’s true they then can manipulate other aspects of the deal like money off the truck, etc. to make it worthwhile. I got the 5 year 125k fir around 800. If they want the sell bad enough they’ll work with you.

The list I was just sent had the 10year 125k at
The price list I just received from Jerry listed the 10 year 125k miles for $1795 and
That is the longest VSA toyota offers (according to the price list). I've decided to buy the 7year 125k for $1250

Same here I'm at 30980 miles on my 2021 after 2 years. For $1250 for 7/125k it's cheap insurance

You're welcome to look at it however you like. For me it's like the decision to buy any other insurance policy. Since I will likely not drive enough to reach the mileage cap, what I did was pay $1,360 to lay off the risk of not having bumper to bumper coverage for 7 years on Toyota Financial Services. $194 per year for eliminating the risk of self-insuring the gap between the bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties for 7 years is worth it to me. And like any other insurance, I hope I never need it. If that makes me a sucker then so be it.

I agree when it comes to a dealership finance guy trying to push an extended warranty, all financed into the loan for an extra $4K or whatever. But the prices of these extended warranties from Wolverine and similar are an exception to the rule of “extended warranties are for suckers” IMO. 10yrs/100K for $1360 doesn’t sound all that bad to me considering all the expensive computers/electronic modules that could take a shit, coolant or oil leaks that involve several hours of labor to fix, etc... It doesn’t take much to get to $1360 in repairs for minor stuff even these days, especially with OEM parts. I think Toyota’s quality is still the best in the biz by far, but shit still happens sometimes. I don’t blame anyone for buying one of these discounted Toyota VSAs online. Just don’t pay 3xs more to the weasel in the chair facing you when you’re signing documents.

C’mon man. This thread is not for people deciding whether or not they should buy a warranty. It’s for informed adults who have made the decision to buy one and have found the best possible way to do so. There are copious threads available for you to comment on in which they are discussing the merits of warranties. No one here is being convinced, nor am I trying to convince you, because for the most part, what you’re saying has truth to it. Minus the calling us suckers etc.

Vehicle Service Agreement. It’s what Toyota calls their extended warranty plan (not the same as service/maintenance plans that dealerships offer).

Not always, I bought an extended warranty on a Dodge Dakota way back when for something like $700 which I thought was a lot at the time but it more than paid for itself when the transmission went out.
But generally speaking they are a cash cow for the dealership.

The warranty company is the one profiting off the VSA if no claims are made. They’re also on the hook if your transmission goes out, etc. dealership does make money on the sale if they’re marking it up 100% for sure.

^^This. Once the dealer sells it they take their mark-up as profit and are out of the picture. Whether or not a claim is submitted doesn't affect them in the least. Toyota Motor Insurance Services actually carries the liability and treats their pricing actuarially just like any other insurance company.

i got the 8/75K in 2016 from out of state dealer. shortly after corporate Toyota cracked down on this practice and you had to physically go to a dealer to purchase. guess now it is back..

That's some great pricing. Now I'm wondering if the warranty plans are available for purchase by Canadians.

My dealer sells the extra warranty and combines all maintenance for the first 3 years or 48 000km. A 5 year / 100 000 km warranty is about $3250 Canadian with the 15% sales tax included. Included maintenance at the dealer is worth about $1100 Canadian.

I have the extra warranty on my 2018 Tacoma and I think it has been worth it. I had the neutral switch replaced and my tailgate bushing busted and damaged the tailgate. They covered it. $1000 body shop repair bill for that alone. Dealer also offered me extra $500 on my trade in value because there's still warranty remaining on my truck.
