Bilstein 6112

looks really good. What’s done to the rear for suspension

 

Right this minute, just a 1.5" Add-a-Leaf, stock shock, but that's going to get replaced with Bilstein 5160's here in a couple of weeks. I'm looking at swapping out to some HD Leaf Springs since I'm about to add a bunch of weight to the bed once I start mounting things on the rack.

 

how does it ride with that set up compared to stock OR suspension?

 

The front end feels too stiff, and the rear shocks are way too soft. I may drop the front end down a notch or two, when I do the rear leafs and shocks here in a couple of weeks. I don't drive much right now, maybe 5-10 miles a week, unless I need to get to a VA Medical Appt, like tomorrow where I'll drive 40 miles. This is currently a temporary setup, while I wait for the new shocks and leaf springs.

 

Are those springs 700lbs kings?

 

No, the part number on the side says 650, I was told they were 650lb springs, but they also came with 600lb lift springs.

 

Got mine installed last week. I love them so far. did 6/6 with spacer. Shop told me I didn't need a new UCA and they would just max out the stock one. I ended up getting one anyway lol. Shop gave me a good deal and it looks better in the parking lot

Honestly to me it’s not that bad. But coming from the stock TRD OR it is stiffer.

But it’s what I’m used to with my previous cars so it doesn’t bother me.

 

Coils are the standard 600 lbs/in that ship with the new 6112s.
I don't have any immediate plans for a front bumper or winch, and it's easy enough to swap out the springs if I change my mind.

 

nice! Let’s see a side shot of your truck. I thought new 6112 come with like 10 notches. Also what rear set up are you running?

 

also what coils are on those 6112?

 

The shop I went to had the older model in stock. Im running 5160 in the rear with 1.5 AAL. The coils on there are the ones that came with it.

nice! I love the way it looks. I hope I can nail the way I want mine to look too. I think I’m going to go with the 0-3.5” extended travel icons, icon rxt rear leaf pack with the extra leaf added and bilstein 5125 2-3.5” lift for the rear shocks. Should be pretty close to how I want it to sit. I want like .5” rake at most, front being .5” lower than rear.

 

Can anyone confirm the specs on these springs? I believe that they are 14” and 600#. I’m sitting at 21 1/4” on driver and 22” on passenger. I have been running this setup for a few years. Lately I haven’t been in love with the rake so I’m wanting to push the front up a bit. I just picked up a spacer to address the lean and am considering 650# springs. Right now I have front skid, sliders, rear plate bumper, and a diamondback tonneau.

 

The p/n on your springs doesn't match the p/n on my new 600 lb/in springs, but that doesn't mean they're not 600 lb/in springs. Best bet is to contact Bilstein and ask them.

 

Anyone experiencing topping out only on passenger side?

 

It looks like that part number is the one used for Toyota FJ Cruisers, 600LB Spring. I'm not sure of the reason, or why, but they are a 600lb spring rate. My 600lb spring part number ends in 50, where yours is 29.

 

I bought these second hand years ago so I don’t know the history, but I’m sure there is an explanation there. I plan on replacing them with 650s

 

I would bet it's an older part number, maybe they change that last number every once in a while or something, but I found that part number listed on multiple for sale posts on the FJ Cruiser Forums.
